  • Ask HN: Companies of one, what is your tech stack?
You're going to love to hate this: Best choice I made was using WordPress! I run https://rpgplayground.com, a web tool to make RPG games without coding (6000+ user published games) The app itself is written in Haxe. My website is WordPress. Haxe because it will be easy to port to any device. Why was WordPress the best choice? Basically everything you need has a plugin. I needed a forum: bbPress I needed a... - Source: Hacker News / almost 4 years ago
  • Browser based maker? Or any version that'll run on a chrome book?
For browser-based, there's RPG Playground? If you're just messing around/not trying to publish or sell it? Source: about 4 years ago
  • Heaps: A free, open-source and cross-platform game engine
I ported my https://rpgplayground.com from AS3 to Haxe. It was the most sane technology to replace Flash, because it came with some platform independent benefits (as opposed to coding straight in JavaScript) Not using Heaps but https://github.com/Kode/Kha. And I think you are indeed correct in your assumption, since I know plenty of others who made that switch. - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
  • Pixel art battlemaps for your remote D&D sessions
Also, there's RPG Playground that, while limited in times and things, has a decent array and is free (just take screen caps). Source: over 4 years ago
  • I can't stand developing for Safari anymore
    > I see no benefits to PWAs Creator of https://rpgplayground.com here, which features game tech running in the browser, so I definitely disagree with this statement :). Here is a list of benefits that I see: 1. One build runs everywhere, Windows, Linux, Mac, Chromeboom (used a lot in schools), Android, iOS, I even have someone running it on an XBox web browser. 2. No download and install, so barrier to entry is... - Source: Hacker News / about 5 years ago
  • LDtk: A modern and open-source 2D level editor
Haxe is awesome! I'm using that and Kha for my https://rpgplayground.com I think most games use Heaps, which is also written by the Haxe developer. Some other libraries such as OpenFL were ported from ActionScript to Haxe. (Basically Haxe took in a lot of Flash refugees :)). Definitely recommended technologies! - Source: Hacker News / about 5 years ago
