I also use Roon, which is a little complicated to describe here. Basically I have my own home server with music on, and then I can use the Roon ARC app to access it on the go, similar to above (and is similar to PlexAmp mentioned elsewhere here). Source: 10 months ago
You might want to give roon or audirvana a try. Source: 11 months ago
You may also want to look into Room depending how far down the rabbit hole you want to go https://roonlabs.com/. Source: 12 months ago
Roon handles metadata and relationships between entities the least bad of anything I’ve tried. It’ll do things like link covers and live performances of the same song together, or let you group multiple issues of the same album and switch between them. It’s not cheap, and it takes some effort to fix some bad source data, but I’ve found it very rewarding and get a ton of enjoyment exploring my library now.... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
Take a look at Roon. It's pricing and mobile limitations are disqualifications for me, but it's tagging is simply phenomenal. Source: over 1 year ago
I use Roon and love love love it https://roonlabs.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Welcome to the rabbit hole, next step for lyrics (amongst many other significant benefits) is.. Roon. Source: over 1 year ago
Music Brainz - I don't actively use this resource, I usually go to Discogs or AllMusic. I have thought it would be great if Apple Music or Marvis Pro could integrate all its rich detail into their interfaces, but they don't currently do so. I don't have Roon, but perhaps that's part of what that service provides. Source: over 1 year ago
I am looking to build a media PC which will be used for; running a Roon Core (https://roonlabs.com) to stream music around the house; playing 4k movies on the TV; and streaming games from my laptop via Steam to the TV. Source: over 1 year ago
Paid alternative 2 (my preference): try Roon https://roonlabs.com/. Source: over 1 year ago

If you want to go for the best (at least as fare as I know) then Roon is your answer. https://roonlabs.com/ Awesome way to store your digital music and listen to Tidal or Qobuz anywhere (Not compatible with Spotify because reasons). There is a ton about Roon on you tube. Source: over 1 year ago
It's not open source or free, but Roon provides multi-zone synchronized playback and has excellent Linux support (including x64 and arm easy install scripts). See: http://roonlabs.com https://help.roonlabs.com/portal/en/kb/articles/linux-install Many Roon users use Raspberry Pi's as audio "bridge" devices for their various audio setups around the house. There's even dedicated RPi distros offering optimized Roon... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
For paid, commercial products, we've got Roon and JRiver, with the former offering a better user experience than the latter but at considerably more expense. Source: over 1 year ago
The best-looking one so far is Roon. Sadly it's not free which is a big bummer. I settled on Plex although I don't have nice features like Roon has. Source: over 1 year ago
I've not heard of Roon but I'll take a closer look. Source: over 1 year ago
Roon player. It has a DSP and EQ feature you can adjust on your phone. Source: over 1 year ago
I also wish that there would be a way to purchase Spotify Session album directly but I guess that won't be an option. Roon has been my #1 music player and simply the only one that have almost perfect way to handle metadata that I like to put into a file. Source: almost 2 years ago
I refused to use Spotify from early on because it is so anti-album. The interface just sucks for playing albums, and its ridiculous that they haven't fixed it. Playlists are fine for parties or when you want to discover new music, but if you are doing more focused listening albums are the way to go. I use Apple Music for streaming / high quality downloads while on the go or airplaying around the house, and Roon... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
