  • New third-generation Formula E car is fastest ever electric racer
There was Roborace [https://roborace.com/] which seemed to be closely aligned with FE once, but seems to have just been a bullshit promotional exercise. - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
  • Sony’s racing AI destroyed its human competitors by being nice (and fast)
    > It would be very interesting indeed to see such an AI compete on a real track, but it may not be as clear cut a victory when the very finely tuned senses of a human racing driver are in play. Roborace[0][1] was an attempt at an all-AI racing series that would be run parallel to Formula E (the all-electric single-seater racing series); however, while they did get to the point that they could run cars on track,... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago

  • 150 mph without a driver: Indy autonomous cars gear up for race - The first time ever that autonomous vehicles will be raced on a "circuit" track.
Does roborace not count? I remember them racing already with the AI drivers. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Is my friends "theory" on making an automatic better on the track than a manual correct? Using computers and AI to shift
In theory having a supercomputer with AI learning control your gearbox could gain you performance in a lap. Especially if it could factor in tire wear and control throttle inputs. But at that point just remove the driver entirely and do like these guys: https://roborace.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • [D] A new Formula 1/E division with AI-drivers
You mean this: https://roborace.com? Source: almost 3 years ago
