Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Rinalance.
  1. What makes Rinalance unique?

Rinalance is built around manual entry as the primary way to track money, not as a fallback for when a bank sync fails.

    • No bank connection, by design. You type in balances and records yourself, so the app never needs read access to your accounts. That makes it usable with any bank in any country, including cash and prepaid balances that aggregators can't see.
    • One financial context at a time. Accounts such as Personal or Business are kept separate instead of being blended into one dashboard, so each view stays readable.
    • Multi-currency is native. Every asset keeps its own currency (EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, JPY, CAD, AUD) and totals convert to the currency you're viewing in.
    • Subscriptions and debts are first-class. Recurring bills and money owed are tracked as their own commitments with due dates, not buried as transaction tags.
    • The free plan is not a trial. Two accounts, unlimited records, charts, statistics, multi-currency, and CSV export stay free indefinitely; Premium adds capacity, budgets, forecasting, and reminders.
  2. Why should a person choose Rinalance over its competitors?

Choose Rinalance if you want a clear picture of your money without handing over bank credentials or learning a budgeting method first.

    • Compared with YNAB or Monarch: less dense and less prescriptive. There is no envelope system to adopt and no bank feed to babysit; you record what happened and the app shows where you stand.
    • Compared with Goodbudget or Actual Budget: multi-currency, subscription tracking, and debt tracking are built in rather than worked around, and it runs as a web app you can install on Android and iOS with nothing to self-host.
    • Compared with a spreadsheet: balances, records, subscriptions, debts, and statistics are linked, so you don't maintain formulas, and you can still export everything to CSV whenever you like.
    • Pricing is simple: a free plan you can use indefinitely, and one Premium tier at €4.99/month for more accounts, budgets, cash-flow forecasting, custom categories, and email reminders.
    • EU-based: built and operated by Rinade d.o.o. in Zagreb, Croatia.
  3. How would you describe the primary audience of Rinalance?

Adults who want control over their personal finances without complicated finance software. Most of them currently use notes, a spreadsheet, a mix of tools, or nothing at all, and find products like YNAB or Monarch too dense or too prescriptive.

Within that group, Rinalance fits especially well for:

    • Privacy-focused users who don't want to hand bank credentials to a third-party aggregator.
    • People holding money in more than one currency, such as expats, remote workers, and anyone paid in a currency different from the one they spend in.
    • Freelancers and side-business owners who want a Personal and a Business context kept apart, without bookkeeping or invoicing software.
    • Cash-heavy households and users whose banks aren't supported by sync services.
    • Subscription-heavy users who want a single place to see recurring costs and what's due next.

Rinalance is in English and available globally; active acquisition starts in Europe.

  4. Which are the primary technologies used for building Rinalance?

    • Frontend: Next.js (App Router) with React and TypeScript, styled with Tailwind CSS and shadcn/ui; charts with Recharts
    • Backend and database: Convex for the data model, queries, mutations, and scheduled jobs
    • Authentication: Clerk
    • Billing: Stripe Checkout and Stripe Tax for the Premium subscription
    • Email reminders: Resend
    • Delivery: installable Progressive Web App (PWA), so it runs in the browser and can be added to the home screen on Android and iOS

All financial values are calculated by application code; there is no AI in the calculation path.

  5. What's the story behind Rinalance?

Rinalance started in 2025 as a tool its founder, Marko Uremović, built for his own weekly money check-in in Zagreb, Croatia. The tools on the market either wanted bank credentials, pushed a budgeting method, or were too dense for a quick look at where things stood. Notes and spreadsheets were simpler but fell apart once subscriptions, a second currency, and money lent to friends entered the picture.

So the first version did one thing: record balances and transactions by hand and always show a correct total. Multi-currency, subscriptions, debts, budgets, and a cash-flow forecast were added as they were needed in real use. The product went live in August 2025 and the company behind it, Rinade d.o.o., was founded in October 2025.

Personal weekly use is still the permanent quality gate: nothing ships that the founder wouldn't use to track his own finances. The free plan is meant to be usable indefinitely; Premium exists for people who want more capacity, planning, and reminders.
