  • Beginner here feeling overwhelmed.
When you want to learn in-depth about certain aspect, check wiki https://rimworldwiki.com/ . It also has a selection of quite good general tutorials. Source: 5 months ago
  • Rimworld wiki down
Hey is it just me or is the rimworld wiki down atm I was trying to check out the hydroponics stuff on it and all it does is tell me there is a rimworldwiki.com host error and I checked if the servers were down and it said they were for everyone. Was wondering if anyone knows when they will be back up? Source: 9 months ago
  • I’m just starting out, any tips?
Play on an easy difficulty for now, stock up food for winter, get power, experiment with basically everything (bedrooms, clothing, weapons, base layout) and decide what you think works best. Don't feel like you have to take on bad colonists, sometimes they're not worth the food. Pyromaniacs are almost universally hated around here. If you're really into the roleplay part, connect with your colonists - just follow... Source: 10 months ago
  • What dlc should I get
There is rimworldwiki.com for details. As just that ... Biotech certainly added most content and major drama with pregnancy and children but other DLCs are also not bad and may fit your taste better. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Tips for a new player like me?
The in-game tutorial will get you started. After that, check out the wiki: https://rimworldwiki.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • How do i view what materials are needing to make an item while in the research tab?
This seems likely, but if not you can look it up on the wiki: https://rimworldwiki.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • First play trough, almost Y3. how we looking?
While I'm at it, if you can't figure out how something works (or doesn't), there is also the rimworld wiki. While it doesn't have a lot of advanced tips, there is still some as well as explanation. So keep at hand. I often use it to check whether my memory is right about something or not. Worst case scenario, there is the weekly questions thread on this reddit to ask specific questions like that. Someone will... Source: over 1 year ago
  • [Q] % thunderstorm of each biome?
What is the % of thunderstorms in each biome? I didn't find this information on rimworldwiki.com. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What wiki should I be using
The official wiki, rimworldwiki.com, is by far the most complete and the most up to date for vanilla content. The Fandom wiki exists but it is a mess, has significant gaps, is hosted on fandom with all the issues that brings, and most of its good content is stolen wholecloth from the official wiki. Which is actually probably a violation of the license now that I think of it. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What wiki should I be using
The rimworldwiki.com has quite adequate info about base game and DLCs. Mods are too numerous and also change daily, so more popular might have their own wikis but I don't think there is any generalized overview of details of mods. Source: over 1 year ago
  • What is chronological age? How does it work? And how the hell is she 1946?
It’s cool bro — the tooltip and Information in-game is pretty good! There is also a very good Wiki! It’s really worth reading/looking up stuff! Source: over 1 year ago
  • new player - can I just play...?
Remember that the Rimworld Wiki is an excellent resource. It will help you later on with a lot of technical questions you may have. I reference it almost every time I play. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Basic tips for newcomer.
If u want more information, check it the official RimWorld wiki https://rimworldwiki.com. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Games you have to play with the wiki open
Lots of game mechanics and items to look up on the wiki. Https://rimworldwiki.com/. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • From the perspective of a brand-new player...
Notice that the Rimworld wiki is ALSO ALSO a MediaWiki site with developer endorsement! Ludeon is another dev studio that I think sets a good example for how developers should operate. Source: over 2 years ago
  • PSA: Letting doctors operate on prisoners again and again rapidly levels up their medical skill
Rimworldwiki has a page dedicated to training. In the medical section, it recommends practicing with dentures, which apparently can not fail - contrary to the installation of a peg leg, which has already killed at least one pawn in my recent memory. Source: over 2 years ago
  • How much interest is there in an absolute beginners guide to modding?
For instance, The Rimworld Wiki includes a modding section, but it's quite technical and can easily lose people new to modding. However, the way it explains the code part is quite solid. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • [Humble Bundle] Indie Hits Sale: RimWorld (10% off), 7 Days to Die (70% off), Kenshi (40% off), Serious Sam 3: BFE (90% off), The Jackbox Party Pack 6 (35% off), Murder by Numbers (50% off), A Hat in Time (40% off), Plague Inc: Evolved (66% off) and more
Generally I recommend people use the Wiki, watch a recent tutorial on YouTube and play using either Cassandra or Phoebe storytellers while starting out in a temperate and safe-ish zone. If you want to take it extra slow then play on the easiest difficulty, this will keep invasions and attacks to a minimum though and you want that combat experience at some point. Don't worry about playing with the DLC as you play... Source: almost 3 years ago
  • New Player Needs assistance beyond tutorial
Though if there are difficulties or technical info you are looking for, the wiki has a lot of information that can assist. https://rimworldwiki.com/. Source: almost 3 years ago
