Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing Reptor.
  1. Why should a person choose Reptor over its competitors?

It depends on what you are comparing against, because the market splits in two.

Against the established media monitoring suites: those are strong on press and social but were built before AI answers existed, so that layer arrived late and shallow. Reptor was designed around it. It also runs on European servers, which matters for organisations that would rather not have their reputation data processed elsewhere, and it is priced for teams without an enterprise budget.

Against the newer AI visibility tools: those measure only what the models say. That is genuinely useful, but a reputation is not built inside ChatGPT. It is built by articles, reviews, broadcast and search results, and those are exactly what the models then draw on. Measuring only the answer means watching the effect while ignoring the cause. Reptor records both, including which sources each model cites.

A practical difference for agencies: Reptor works white-label, so PR or communications agencies can offer the monitoring under their own brand and use the reports as evidence of the work it delivered.

  2. What's the story behind Reptor?

Reptor grew out of MediaMaze, a communications agency in Amsterdam, and it started with a question clients kept asking that nobody could answer.

People had begun looking things up through ChatGPT and similar assistants instead of a search engine. When they asked about a company they got one answer instead of ten links, and that answer was shaping opinions before anyone had a chance to check it. Organisations could see what the press wrote and what happened on social media, but what an AI model said about them was a blind spot, and it was being acted on regardless.

Building a tool just for that turned out to be the wrong idea. What a model says is not created inside the model; it comes from articles, reviews, forum threads and search results. Measuring only the answer means watching the effect and ignoring the cause. So the scope became the whole chain: the sources that shape a reputation, and the answers that result from them, in one system.

Reptor launched in October 2025 and is bootstrapped.

  3. What makes Reptor unique?

Reptor follows the classic channels and the AI answers in one place, and records which sources the models cite when they talk about a brand.

Most tools do only parts. Traditional media monitoring suites cover press, social listening tools do social and reviewtools do reviews. Some added AI as an afterthought. The newer AI visibility tools look only at what ChatGPT or Perplexity say and ignore everything else. A reputation is the whole picture, so Reptor treats it as one: news coverage and the journalists behind it, social channels, review platforms, radio and television, Google positions and autocomplete, and what the large language models answer.

The cited sources are what make it usable. Because we recorded which kinds of sites a model draws on, a communications team can see where the content they produced eventually lands and how it shapes the picture. That turns monitoring into something you can act on rather than a feed you scroll through.

The platform is built AI-native, with agents that categorise and weigh every mention, and it keeps its data on European servers.
