  • [Meta] Can posts asking about immigration advice or from people currently outside of the EU with no citizenship be banned?
Maybe we can just add a Wiki that lists the job boards showing whether visa sponsorship is available or not to the applicants. That would be very useful for people outside the EU and it will cut down on these questions and document the current companies better. I use relocate.me for example. I personally find it useful to talk about immigration rules in this sub because I think there might be specific... Source: 12 months ago
  • How possible it is to bag your first job abroad ?

  • Seeking advice on how to land a job in the Netherlands as a Canadian living in the US
Check out https://relocate.me/ - there are some Dutch companies that hire internationally and advertise on this website. If you’re a halfway decent software engineer then it is totally feasible to find an english-speaking job in the Dutch tech industry that comes with a relocation package (I was relocated by a Dutch company and so were many of my colleagues). Make sure you only speak to companies that will pay for... Source: about 1 year ago

Youll need to be at the top of your field, and have a GitHub repo - or some projects to differentiate your skill set. Then, also visit the respective job websites (indeed, Reed, honeypot, relocate.me) and more and apply there. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Which is better? Doing masters abroad and then getting a job there or directly applying for one with your Bachelors?
I've commented about this before, but there's a huge tech market in the EU, and getting visa sponsorship in EU countries is far, far easier. The EU Blue Card (https://apply.eu) program makes it pretty easy for companies to sponsor a visa that'll translate to a residence permit. As for jobs: you can find a bunch of them (search 'VISA') on Hacker News hiring threads (see: https://hnhired.fly.dev); another cool site... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Do you consider 60,000 euros gross a good salary in Vienna?
According to relocate.me it boils down to net paycheck of 3200 eur/month and others here suggest it's about right in Vienna. The Americans are right, we're europoor. Source: over 1 year ago
  • IT jobs for foreigners (non-EU)
I have sent my CV so many times to companies that posted offers at relocate.me and LinkedIn, pretty much to all of the ones listed as Recognized Sponsors (by the IND), but haven't had success. And I can assure you my CV is not bad, I've published scientific articles and got some really interesting and innovative work done... Source: over 1 year ago
