I would recommend checking out reedsy.com because they have a ton of information for writers about marketing, writing, editing, etc and offer free short courses on a bunch of things. I am definitely there with you about being overwhelmed. It's a lot to teach yourself. I can't afford professional editors so I have to teach myself all the tricks I can when I get to my final draft. I found Reedsy, a handy web app. It allows you to upload your manuscript and generate a .ePub. The other huge benefit is the template system, allowing an author to add frontmatter, a table of contents, and backmatter. The entire UX on Reedsy is top-notch and intuitive. It took me a half hour in total. - Source: dev.to / about 1 year ago

I highly recommend Reedsy to format your books. It already knows the answers to every one of your questions so you don't have to figure it out. It's free and does everything everyone is giving you instructions for, including generating both a PDF for print books and files for ebooks from the same files. It also has customizable templates for front matter, auto generates a table of contents (which can also be... Source: over 1 year ago
I am starting again. Now, as far as Kali, in my current writing Kali and Madison are the main characters, and the other Kali's are tertiary characters. It's a lot easier to write, and a much easier read. But the story is called 'When Kali's Collide', and it's already published. I'm working with a professional from reedsy.com who liked it and wants to help me fix it and before I republish it. Source: over 1 year ago
It was a slog, and I may not entirely recommend r/artcommissions , but I found my cover artist there. (Roughly 230 odd replies through messages & replies). It took me four days to solidify my choice, and I'm just finishing up the copyright process & final formatting before I publish my first book. reedsy.com possibly, though there may be some wait times & the prices are a bit high at times depending on the artist.... Ever since I installed my eero 6 v6.10.3-151, I can't access the editing experience at reedsy.com. When I use the hotspot on my iPhone I can access it fine. I've added reedsy.com and editor.reedsy.com to the allow list on my eero and it still doesn't load. I've turned off Advanced Security, still nothing. Source: almost 2 years ago

I use Reedsy (https://reedsy.com), it's an online word processor specifically meant for writing books. It has minimal formatting options, supports chapters and parts, and can automatically export your book in both eBook format or print-ready PDF. They also have a bunch of other services and really helpful blogs. Source: almost 2 years ago
Another site to check out would be reedsy.com - this is a professional marketplace for editors and the like. I'm not actually registered properly on there, but I've heard good things about it. Their clients are willing to pay real money, unlike upwork.com where people balk at paying anything close to even minimum wage. (Actually there are probably some decent contracts on upwork, but I've never really heard about... Source: about 2 years ago
