Use a tool to generate all the sizes: https://realfavicongenerator.net it'll serve the best size for the browser. I create it in a 500x500 PNG and then use the tool to scale it down and create the SVG, but if you've started in SVG then start from there. Source: over 2 years ago
I just cloned the project and replace the files with the ones from https://realfavicongenerator.net and it worked right out the box. Use the website because it will generate all the necessary sizes. Don't replace the browserconfig.xml and site.webmanifest files, only the png, ico and svg. You must change ALL of images to make sure the favicon is updated consistently across. It's very well designed. It's minimalistic and clean I like it. You have a nice experience. One thing that is missing is the favicon and Twitter card/Open Graph Meta tags. You can use generators for them: * Favicon Generator * Meta-Tag, Twitter Card and OpenGraph Generator. Source: almost 3 years ago

Every web page needs a favicon. Why not generate one directly? There's no need to draw it pixel by pixel, you can generate one from an image! That tool supports creating icons for different platforms on both web and mobile. The tool is unfortunately a bit slow to use, so if you want a quick and easy option you can use favicon.io which allows you to generate a favicon from images, emojis and texts. - Source: dev.to / about 3 years ago
