Admittedly, this is an issue with organization and can be solved with thorough cleanups, but I suspect that may disrupt the usual flow of non-PM people more. I am thinking of using a separate tool like craft.io or productboard.com to highlight strategies, roadmaps, cross-team initiatives, discoveries, etc. With a possible link to JIRA somehow. Has anyone ever tried this? Source: almost 4 years ago
Recently my friend at Productboard noticed an interesting bug in one of our services. For some reason our code responsible for calculating how many days our customers' features spend in certain states (Idea, Discovery, Delivery, etc) in some cases would give us wrong results. - Source: dev.to / about 4 years ago
ProductboardProductboard helps us capture user feedback from email, Slack, Zendesk, our public-facing product portal etc. And see what users need the most. We also use it for prioritizing product objectives, release planning, roadmappingโฆ. Source: over 4 years ago
I use ProductBoard. It's fairly expensive but pretty great. I gather requirements into PB and use the inbuilt editor to flesh them out. When a story is ready I push a button and it ends up in Trello (but you can add your own integrations; there's one for github for example). The integrations aren't perfect but I love it. Used it in my last job and brought it in at my current job. https://productboard.com. - Source: Hacker News / almost 5 years ago
Productboard, a prominent player within the project management and customer feedback domains, has garnered attention as a versatile tool designed to streamline the product management process. Its role is particularly emphasized in situations requiring well-structured roadmap planning and user feedback integration. With competitors including Canny.io, Aha!, ProdPad, and others, Productboard holds a distinct market presence due to its comprehensive feature set tailored for product managers and teams focused on aligning product developments with customer needs and business objectives.
Productboard is frequently highlighted in technical circles for its adept handling of product roadmaps and prioritization of features. Users appreciate its capability to collate feedback from multiple channels such as email, Slack, and Zendesk, creating a unified view that informs strategic decision-making. The tool supports the entire lifecycle from gathering user input to prioritizing features, thus providing a holistic environment for product planning. Its visualization features, which allow the creation of roadmaps integrated with user stories and epics, have been particularly praised. For example, professionals in various blogs and forums underscore its utility in generating insightful reports that measure progress against predefined milestones.
Feedback from users about Productboard generally spotlights its robust approach to product management. Its capacity to integrate with other tools like Jira, Trello, and GitHub, although not perfect, is seen as a positive aspect that enhances workflow efficiency. Users have reported successful transitions to Productboard from other tools, citing its user-friendly interface and powerful organizational capabilities as significant improvements over previous systems. Despite its complexity and potential steep learning curve for new users, Productboard's capability to bridge gaps between customer feedback and product development is viewed favorably.
However, its pricing remains a point of contention for some users. While many acknowledge the value it delivers, there are opinions suggesting that its costs might be prohibitive for smaller teams or startups. Nonetheless, repeated endorsements from businesses that have migrated from alternative solutions suggest that the investment is justified by the returns in efficiency and alignment with business growth objectives.
When compared to competitors like Canny.io and Jira, Productboard stands out due to its specialized focus on integrating customer feedback within product development workflows. While tools like Jira are favored for issue tracking and agile project management, Productboard is positioned as a more specialized tool that excels in the strategic aspect of product planning and stakeholder alignment. Users considering alternatives often weigh the in-depth feedback capabilities of Productboard against its peers, ultimately valuing its ability to provide clear, actionable insights derived from user feedback.
Productboard's reputation as a highly effective feedback management and product roadmap tool is well-founded, evidenced by diverse use cases and testimonials across various industries. Its comprehensive feature set, which bridges the gap between customer needs and product execution, grants it a competitive edge, particularly among mature product teams focused on strategic growth. While its pricing model may require consideration, the value it offers in fostering informed product decisions continues to attract a loyal user base.
