This page is designed to help you find out whether Stick Studio Pro is good and if it is the right choice for you.
Stick Studio Pro began the way most animation tools begin — with frustration rather than a business plan. I'd spent time using older desktop stick-figure animators and kept running into the same wall: installs that didn't work on every machine, files that only opened on the computer they were made on, and no easy way to just open a browser tab and start animating on whatever device happened to be in front of me at the time.
Rather than keep working around that, I decided to build the tool I actually wanted to use. I had no formal background in animation software or graphics programming — what I had was a clear enough picture of the workflow I wanted, and a willingness to learn the JavaScript, canvas rendering, and vector math needed to make it real, one feature at a time. The first version could barely snap two frames together. Getting from that to a working timeline, onion skinning, multi-actor scenes, and a real video export pipeline took a long series of small, sometimes frustrating, iterations — rebuilding the joint-rigging system more than once after realizing the first approach didn't scale to more complex poses.
What kept the project moving was watching how satisfying it is the moment a stiff, robotic-looking stick figure suddenly "clicks" into believable motion once the spacing and timing are right. That moment — a flat two-dimensional shape starting to feel like it has weight and intention — is the same thing every animator chases, whether they're working in a browser tool built by one person or a professional studio pipeline. Stick Studio Pro exists so more people can get to that moment without needing to install anything, pay for expensive software, or already know how to animate before they start.

Stick Studio Pro brings professional-grade 2D stick figure animation directly into the browser without requiring any heavy desktop installations or downloads. It combines an intuitive inverse-kinematics-style joint posing system with high-performance browser rendering, enabling creators to preview scenes at 60 FPS and export crisp 1080p video directly on their local device with zero cloud-processing delay.
Zero Barrier to Entry: Unlike legacy tools (like Pivot Animator) that require desktop OS installations, or mobile-only apps (like Stick Nodes), Stick Studio Pro launches instantly on any PC or Chromebook via any modern browser or PWA.
Client-Side Privacy & Speed: Animations and project timelines are stored locally in the browser’s local storage or exported as JSON backups—meaning sensitive creative work never leaves the user’s computer.
True HD Video Export: Users can export straight to 1080p, 720p, or animated GIF with onion skinning, multi-layer depth support, and customizable frame rates without watermarks.
Indie Animators & Content Creators: Creators producing action fight sequences, stick battles, and visual storytelling for YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
Game Developers & Designers: Indie game creators prototyping sprite motion arcs, attack choreographies, and character physics.
Students & Beginners: Aspiring animators who want to master fundamental animation principles (onion skinning, ease-in/ease-out, keyframing, and holds) without investing in complex suites like Adobe Animate or Moho.
Stick Studio Pro was built out of frustration with the fragmentation in the 2D stick animation space. For years, creators were forced to choose between outdated Windows-only freeware tools from the early 2000s or complex, expensive digital art suites designed for full vector character animation. Stick Studio Pro was created to modernize stick figure animation for the web generation—combining modern HTML5 APIs, an accessible kinematic joint system, and instant HD rendering into an accessible, lightweight web-native studio.
HTML5 Canvas & JavaScript: Powers the real-time timeline, 60 FPS canvas renderer, and joint-rigging logic.
OffscreenCanvas API & Web Workers: Used for background frame processing and zero-latency HD video compilation.
WebCodecs / Client-Side Video Rendering: Handles in-browser MP4 and GIF encoding directly on the user's hardware.
Progressive Web App (PWA) Standards & Local Storage: Enables native desktop-like window management, offline access, and secure local file persistence.
