  • MH:R RELEASED! LET'S FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
PPSSPP is the emulator that you need to play the games. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Which persona do I get when the ports come out? Alot of people say 4 is really good but I've never played 3 or 4 myself
I used the PPSSPP emulator that emulates PSP games as it allows me to emulate several of the games, though I do recommend using PCSX2 for ps2 games, specifically so that you can play P3 FES, which I prefer to P3P. (which is the one getting the steam port) I won't link you to any of the game ROMs bc I think that can get me in trouble, but looking up persona [number] PSP ROM will probably get you what you're looking... • PPSSPP (1.12.3) crashing at startup
The standalone PPSSPP app crashes no matter which version I use, including the latest 1.12.3. I can't even get error logs because the app does not even start, just crashes out to the home screen. I used the Google Play version, as well as the APKs on the official ppsspp.org site. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Persona game questions.
If you're asking about emulation, that has nothing to do with modding the games (no one's made any translation mods for the Japanese PSP games that have official translations anyway). It's playing them on a different device (such as PC) using an emulation program such as PPSSPP. You'll have to acquire the game ROMs separately, but the only way to do that legally is if you rip it from your own copy (which you'd... Source: over 3 years ago

If you want to emulate the PSP version just get the ISO of P3P from CDRomance or Vimm's Lair, and just download PPSSPP http://ppsspp.org/ from here or download it from the Play Store if you're on Android. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Dante's Inferno is peak video game art perfection
PPSSPP, also an android version available. Source: about 4 years ago
  • People recommending emulators for altstore that wont install on altstore
So I dont know about PS1 games, but I do know about a psp emulator called PPSSPP (https://ppsspp.org) which works perfectly through altstore. And according to this (https://www.reddit.com/r/PSP/wiki/psx2psp/) it should be relatively simple to convert PS1 games to a format that the PSP emulator can read and play. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Need a bit of help with the 3rd birthday
I don't think it's on the store at all anymore. You would need an emulator, this is the psp emulator I use https://ppsspp.org/. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Emulating P3P
If you don't have any experience emulating, this'll probably be more of a learning experience for you. I've never emulated a PSP game but I've heard good things about PPSSPP. You can also find the .iso at r-roms.github.io. Go to popular, and scroll down to Persona. It should be there. Hope this helped. Source: over 4 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of PPSSPP

Public Opinion on PPSSPP

PPSSPP, known as the "PlayStation Portable Simulator Suitable for Playing Portably," is a highly regarded emulator within the gaming community, lauded primarily for its robust performance, ease of use, and extensive game support. As one of the top contenders in the emulator market, it stands alongside major players like RetroArch, PCSX2, and the Dolphin Emulator, but specifically carves out its niche in PSP emulation.

Key Strengths:
  1. Performance and Stability: PPSSPP is often described as the best PSP emulator available, notable for its stability and comprehensive support for PSP ROMs. Users consistently highlight its capability to run a large selection of PSP titles with relative smoothness on various devices, although there are occasional limitations on older hardware. This strength is underscored by comparisons with other emulators, where PPSSPP often emerges superior in terms of user experience and functionality.

  2. User-Friendly: The ease of setting up PPSSPP is frequently praised, comparable to setting up the Dolphin Emulator. This simplicity in user experience contributes significantly to its popularity, making it accessible even to those new to emulation.

  3. Feature-Rich: The emulator includes a variety of standard emulator features along with some unique enhancements, providing users with a flexible and powerful tool to enjoy their favorite PSP games.

  4. Cross-Platform Availability: Its availability on multiple platforms, including Android, adds to its appeal. The Android version, in particular, receives positive feedback for its performance and ability to run games effectively, making it a favored choice for mobile gamers.

Challenges and Criticisms:

Despite its strengths, PPSSPP is not without its challenges. Users have occasionally reported technical issues, such as the application crashing at startup without generating error logs, as mentioned in multiple user posts. These issues, while not overwhelmingly common, highlight areas where the emulator could improve in reliabilityโ€”especially concerning new updates and compatibility across various devices.

Another noted challenge arises from the necessity of obtaining ROMs legally, which can be cumbersome for users unfamiliar with the process. This aspect is often mentioned alongside recommendations for using PPSSPP, underscoring the importance of adhering to legal guidelines when emulating games.

Community Engagement:

The PPSSPP community actively engages in discussions about game compatibility, setup assistance, and comparisons with other emulators. This reflects a user base that is not only enthusiastic but also supportive in troubleshooting and enhancing each other's gaming experiences.

Overall, PPSSPP enjoys a positive reputation within the gaming emulation community for its superior performance, ease of use, and broad game support. While technical issues persist for some, they appear to be exceptions rather than the norm, and users generally regard PPSSPP as a reliable and effective solution for PSP emulation. As it continues to evolve, it holds promise for maintaining its status as the premiere choice among PSP emulators.
