  • 7 productivity websites for blocking popups - block pop-ups and scripts, userscript that blocks all unwanted pop-up windows in different browsers, reliable popup blocking add-on with history

  • Looking for a pop-up blocker for Safari, that can remove overlays
This is the Chrome extension I use. Is there a safari alternative for Mac/iOS capable of removing overlays? Source: about 3 years ago
  • How does the user disable the "up next" full screen pop-up on desktop?
As far as I know though, I can't get it to work. Tested using both Firefox and Edge. Regardless I don't think there was anything that directly made it go away. I do have a popup blocker (Poper Blocker) and an adblocker (Adblock Plus) though none of those are picking up anything. Maybe try those two out as a solution, they're useful in any case. Works on Firefox, Chrome, Edge, etc. Source: over 3 years ago
  • So, IGG now blocks Ad-Blocks..
There is a simple solution for this problem(doesn't work everywhere) that will also help with more stuff. Go ahead and add popperblocker extension to your chrome(maybe other browsers too?) then you can Rclick the block banner and remove overlay (optionally select to always remove). • What does everyone use for Antivirus these days? Is there a consensus on the best one?
Personally I only use Microsoft Defender , with uBlock Origin and Poper Blocker . with adwcleaner from time to time . Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Is 1337xx.to legit?
1337xx looks like a proxy site run by people who aren't associated with the real site. Just remember to install Ublock Origin (most of the other Adblock plugins are private-owned and thus suck) and enable the necessary filters, like this picture. It'll block all malware ads and pop-ups. I also recommend Poper Blocker, which is a powerful proprietary pop-up blocker with millions of users. Source: almost 4 years ago

If you use chrome, download the PoperBlocker extension. You can right click on the overlay and remove it to read all the articles like normal. Source: over 4 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of Poper Blocker

Poper Blocker, a Chrome extension primarily focused on blocking pop-ups and overlays, stands out in the crowded ad-blocker market. The public perception of Poper Blocker is generally positive, appreciating its effectiveness in removing various types of intrusive elements such as pop-ups, pop-unders, overlays, and other advertising nuisances that can bypass standard ad-blocking capabilities. Despite this, certain limitations and challenges have been noted by users and reviewers.

Key Strengths

  1. Specialization in Pop-ups and Overlays: Poper Blocker is distinguished by its targeted focus on eliminating pop-ups and overlays. Users frequently cite its capability to handle pop-ups that other general ad-blockers miss, making it a valuable complement to more comprehensive solutions like Adblock Plus and uBlock Origin. Its intuitive user interface provides users with real-time blocking notifications and statistics, enhancing user engagement and transparency.

  2. Broad Compatibility: The extension is widely praised for its cross-browser functionality, working effectively across popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, and Edge. This widespread compatibility increases its accessibility and usability across different platforms.

  3. Minimal Impact: Operating seamlessly in the background, Poper Blocker exerts a minimal impact on system resources. This efficiency allows it to function alongside other browser extensions without causing performance issues, enabling users to maintain a clutter-free browsing experience.

Challenges and Limitations

  1. Testing Difficulty: A notable challenge highlighted in some reviews is the inherent difficulty in testing the extension's effectiveness due to modern browsers' built-in pop-up blocking capabilities. Many websites and browsers are increasingly adept at handling pop-ups internally, potentially limiting Poper Blocker's opportunity to demonstrate its full potential.

  2. Lack of Safari Support: A recurring query among users is the absence of a Safari-compatible version. Although Poper Blocker is well-regarded on Chrome, the lack of support for Safari limits its reach among users who prefer Apple's ecosystem.

  3. Mixed Experiences in Specialty Use Cases: While many users praise its performance, anecdotal feedback reveals varied success in specific scenarios, such as on certain websites or pop-up types. Some users report instances where Poper Blocker failed to address overlays or pop-ups not recognized by the extension, requiring manual intervention.

Overall Public Sentiment

The overall public opinion of Poper Blocker is favorable, with many users endorsing it as a crucial tool in their digital privacy arsenal. Its specialization in dealing with pop-ups, along with its responsiveness and minimal system impact, are significant selling points. However, the challenge of operational redundancy due to built-in browser features and incomplete browser support can impact its perceived necessity and reach.

In summary, Poper Blocker maintains its position as a reputable and effective pop-up blocker within the realm of security and privacy tools. As it continues to navigate its niche market position, addressing compatibility and performance consistency concerns will be critical for its continued success.
