The track in the picture was exported from gpsies, then imported into plotaroute.com Thanks! Source: over 1 year ago
My watch is a basic Garmin Forerunner 35 with my map functionality or turn/directions capability. If I'm running somewhere new (somewhere I need to drive to or in a different city) I'll occasionally use plotaroute.com to plot my route and either write the turns down on a small piece of paper I'll carry and glance at periodically or download the GPX file and upload it to use in the rungo app. That app gives audible... 2: work towards walking ~2 miles in those 30 minutes (see plotaroute.com or strava to find distance). Consider adding 1-3x per week strength training, such as the minimal routine at r/bodyweightfitness. Source: over 1 year ago
In other post I've been sugested to use plotaroute.com and I'm really liking it, a lot. Source: over 1 year ago
Short of using a physical tool to measure the route, your best option is to use an online tool like plotaroute.com to plot the route you took. Hopefully one of the apps is consistently more accurate than the other. Different apps on the same phone may indicate slightly (or significantly) different routes. That's because of differences in how each app gathers GPS coordinates at different times and frequencies, how... Source: almost 2 years ago
My routes tend to be planned on plotaroute.com, then the GPX imported into Garmin Connect. Source: almost 2 years ago
The Fringe is very much a 'go to shows and in between maybe enjoy some pop-up outdoor bars/food trucks' thing, not a riot of street partying. There's a short stretch of the Royal Mile (plotaroute.com tells me it's 300m long) that has street performers and people flyering their shows on it, and sometimes the flat area at The Mound too, but that's about it. My race strategy was pretty standard HM stuff: start a little easy (just slower than threshold training pace), hover around my threshold pace through 15k or so, and then empty the tank in the final 5k. I was concerned that the course had mapped a little long (13.3mi on https://plotaroute.com). This meant I would need to find a few spare seconds per mile somewhere along the way and work the tangents. At the same... Source: almost 2 years ago
I think Hellerud, Trasop, Oppsal, Ulsrud, Bøler, Skullerud are very similar in regards of access to steep trails. Østensjø is a bit farther away from the forest, so you would need to run a bit before hitting the trails. You could easily make a route to get like 500m ascent in 15k, but I am sure with some effort you could make a hillier route and gain a few hundred more. There are really a lot of trails to choose... I've got a list of places I need to visit in one day. Does anyone know if a tool exists that will help me find the quickest way to walk between them all? Things I've found such Google Maps or plotaroute.com don't reorder the locations, so I end up doubling back on myself if I'm going to a few places in the same area. Source: about 2 years ago
With background maps on a watch, few specific situations are easier too handle, for example trail forks can be tricky if you have just a line on a black canvas to follow. One way to address this is to manually add waypoints with hints (trn-lft or whatnot), there are also services that add those instructions autmagically into your routes (plotaroute.com, for example). But this in turn would mess with distance to... Source: about 2 years ago
I've had pretty mixed experiences with plotaroute.com's projected elevation gain on planned routes, both city routes and trail routes. They seem to be off by as much as 25%. Source: about 2 years ago
I had to restore my iphone this week and the OSM app has disappeared from the app store. It was simply called OSM and used the same map design as plotaroute.com uses. Does anyone know what happened to it or is there a new name / link for it? Source: over 2 years ago
My husband and I map out our routes before going running or cycling (on a website like plotaroute.com) and leave it up on our computers so we know where to look in the event of an emergency. I know it's not the same, and I totally understand where your wife is coming from! Source: over 2 years ago
I use the site plotaroute.com. Have found it pretty handy to use for plotting my local routes so that I know how far I'm going. Definitely going to check out some of the suggestions on this thread so that I might find some extra options to try out. Source: over 2 years ago
I use plotaroute.com and just play around plotting various routes. Couple this with Google Maps Street View to see if the routes are good for running. This is a great way to explore the area where you live! Source: over 2 years ago
