The problem is that they tend not to be very good in distinguishing shapes on a photo. But there is something that can be done to improve on that. All that is needed is image editing software that supports converting an image to greyscale and can edit the brightness and contrast of an image. In this case I used the pixlr editor for these type of operations, but there is also open source software like the gimp... - Source: dev.to / over 2 years ago

Find out the dimensions and image sizes you will need, then you can go to this Photoshop clone and create your images. It's not identical to PS, but its close enough to where PS tutorials will help if you get stuck. Source: over 3 years ago

Pixlr photo editor, itโs like a free version of photoshop. Source: over 3 years ago
Save your favorite variations (I typically upscale but it's not necessary per say) Https://pixlr.com/e/ <-- I use Pixlr over Photoshop for workflow purposes as it's faster and easier to edit quickly though it recently updated and made it so you can only save 2 images a day for free (bullshit) but I get around this by copy and pasting it into MS Paint when I'm finished and want to save the final output. I just mean what's with all the black pen everywhere, but fair enough. Personally I use pixlr.com/e - always have. Basically online photoshop. Unfortunately they've tried to monetise it lately with a very limited number of free saves per day, but you can always get around that with the Snipping Tool. Source: over 3 years ago

Https://ezgif.com/ is a great resource for creating gifs. If you want a free photo editor, I know https://pixlr.com/e/ is good for that. I used the original artwork by Alex Grey and edited it to create the images used in this post, so I'm not experienced in image upscaling. I hope this information helped. Source: over 3 years ago
I used this template and edited it on Pixlr E which is like a free photoshop. Basically, go to pixlr.com/e, click "Create new" and put in 2048 for both the height and width. Fill the blank picture with the color you want, then you can click "Layer > Add URL as Layer" and paste the image address from the template I linked. Then you can add whatever you want to it. Https://pixlr.com/e/ is a free alternative to photoshop/kritta/gimp that runs in a web browser (crashes on mobile ftr). You can open the screenshot in that and drop in your wallpaper, resize is how you want them save it out. That way it'll be the exact size you need. Source: over 3 years ago
Here's the DropBox links if you want to download and submit your own for printing. I used InkedGaming for the mat (edge stitching is nice) and Pixlr to create the playzone layer. Feel free to upload the project and tweak to your liking. In my opinion, the only minor tweaks might be to try and make the playzone font a bit bigger/bolder, and maybe shift the lanes to the left about half a lane's distance to make room... It was just this sticker then cut out the background and made it black. I don't have photoshop so I just did everything on pixlr which is pretty similar. Source: almost 4 years ago
For something this simple I just use a browser-based editor, which are actually surprisingly good. Some of them even come close to Photoshop (or as close as a non-professional will ever need to get). Photopea is one of those. Pixlr E is also good with a slightly more simplistic UI. For something like this I just resize the canvas, fill with white and add text. Takes about 15 seconds without having to leave the... Source: almost 4 years ago

Pixlr Editor emerges as a popular choice among users seeking a free and accessible alternative to mainstream photo editing tools like Adobe Photoshop. The consensus in the public domain reflects a favorable stance, with multiple mentions highlighting its capabilities and ease of use across various image editing tasks. It's worth noting that Pixlr Editor ranks highly in articles listing free Photoshop alternatives, often being described as one of the "best online Photoshop alternatives" due to the plethora of features it offers, mimicking those of more established software in the image editing industry.
Pixlr Editor is frequently lauded for its comprehensive suite of tools, including support for layers and blending modes, a rich collection of effects and filters, and essential features like the healing toolโa favorite among Photoshop users. Users find its web-based interface intuitive and convenient, especially for quick edits and adjustments without the need for installing software locally. This capability is particularly advantageous for users operating on varying devices, such as Chromebooks, or requiring flexibility to access their editing tools from different locations.
When compared with industry giants like Adobe Photoshop and other alternatives like GIMP or Photopea, Pixlr Editor is praised for not only its feature set but also for its performance in a web-based environment. Reviewers often appreciate the platform for maintaining a balance between functionality and simplification, fostering an environment conducive to both casual and semi-professional use. Users frequently recommend it for tasks such as creating social media graphics, resizing images, converting images to grayscale, and performing straightforward photo enhancements.
Despite its advantages, Pixlr Editor has faced criticism, mainly due to its recent monetization efforts, which restrict free users to a limited number of image saves per day. This change has caused some discontent among long-time users, as it introduces barriers to workflow and limits accessibility for those who rely on uninterrupted, frequent editing. Additionally, while the interface is user-friendly, some users have pointed out that the platform's performance can be inconsistent on mobile devices.
The overall sentiment toward Pixlr Editor remains positive, with many users commending it for offering a "free version of Photoshop." Its ability to perform fundamental and intermediate editing tasks efficiently makes it a go-to solution for individuals and small business owners looking to produce quality graphics without financial investment in professional-grade software. Although the recent limitations on free use present challenges, users have found workarounds, illustrating a high level of adaptability and reliance on the tool. Pixlr Editor is seen not only as a practical option but also as a demonstration of how web-based solutions can replicate desktop application functionalities effectively.
