I can go to https://photopea.com and get an entire photoshop clone in my browser, but it would be nice to just use your tool for screenshots when I need. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
Last but certainly not least, I have to mention Photopea, which, in my humble opinion, is one of the greatest pieces of software ever built on the web. In a nutshell, itโs a free Photoshop alternative, fully developed using web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
I'm happy gIMP is still being worked on. That said, I'm a photoshop user and I find all my personal needs are covered by Photopea (https://photopea.com). It feels like it duplicates all of the photoshop features I regularly use including non-destructive editing, smart layers, and non-destructive layer blending options like stroke, outline, outer-shadow, inner-shadow, solid-color, that I use often. Serving images from CDNs is not the only use case for browser JXL support. Browsers can perform client side processing of images before upload. They even host fully featured image editors like https://photopea.com. And sometimes you do want to see an original image from your camera in your browser, like say on the web version of Google Photos. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
When the link was up, we were 100% sure the link was to "https://photopea.com". You can configure your computer, if you know how, to show you the link, if it doesn't already, when you hover over it with your mouse, or you click (or tap) and hold the link before you actually follow it. You should see how to do that with your computer and browser. Source: over 2 years ago

Use the free photopea.com. Close the top blue banner, if there is one, by clicking the X. Then load your photo and use the Color Replacement brush from the left tool bar to paint over the area with the new color. Select the new color first, so it appears in the palette at the bottom of the tool bar. If all this confuses you and you want a tutorial on how this works, go to youtube and search for: Photoshop Color... Source: almost 3 years ago

I'm trying to recover my photoshop file because I accidentally deleted my one drive. I managed to recover the file using a third-part software, but I cannot open it. It's a .psd file and the size seems correct. When I try to open the file, I'm getting "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." and when I try open as I get "Could not open "_____.psd" because it is not a valid... Photopea, an innovative online photo editing tool, has carved a commendable niche for itself within the realm of graphic design and digital art software. Launched as a browser-based alternative to robust image editing applications like Adobe Photoshop, Photopea offers an extensive suite of features typically associated with premium desktop software, but makes them accessible for free directly from a web browser.
Photopea's rise to prominence can be largely attributed to its accessibility and cost-effectiveness. Unlike software giants such as Adobe Photoshop, which require subscriptions, Photopea is free, eliminating financial barriers for users seeking powerful image editing capabilities. This has made it particularly attractive to students, hobbyists, and professionals who need to perform complex edits without investing in expensive software licenses.
Users frequently express admiration for Photopea's comprehensive feature set, which includes support for PSD, XD, XCF, Sketch, and CDR files. Its interface closely mirrors that of Photoshop, making it intuitive for those familiar with Adobe's layout and tools. Users often highlight its ability to handle workflows involving Curves adjustments, gradient maps, high pass filters, and non-destructive editing. Such features position Photopea as not just a substitute for Photoshop but as a formidable tool in its own right.
In user evaluations, Photopea's performance is often likened to that of Photoshop, with many noting its efficiency in handling usual graphic design tasks. However, while Photopea performs admirably for general editing purposes, it may exhibit some limitations with computationally intensive tasks such as spot removal and cloning. Despite this, users find these processes "effective" if not quite as rapid as those in Photoshop.
While commended for its capabilities, Photopea is not without its criticisms. Users occasionally encounter challenges, such as issues with using certain functions or minor performance hiccups. Additionally, unlike some competitors like GIMP, Photopea is not open-source, which may be a concern for users who prioritize software transparency and community-driven development.
The software's flexibility extends across various use cases, from graphic design and digital drawing to photo editing and mock-up creation. It supports extensive layer management and is applauded for its ability to handle tasks like color replacement, printing profile selection, and even working as a Progressive Web Application (PWA). Moreover, the fact that it operates entirely on web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) speaks volumes about its ingenuity and reliability as a modern software solution.
Photopea stands out as a unique and valuable tool in the landscape of image editing and graphic design software. Its combination of user-friendly accessibility, cost-effectiveness, and feature-rich environment makes it a preferred choice for a diverse user base looking for an Adobe Photoshop alternative. It continues to garner positive public opinion and remains a testament to the potential of web-based applications in modern digital workflows. Despite minor limitations, its strengths in mirroring Photoshop's capabilities have ensured its position as a top contender in the field.
