Questions & Answers

As answered by people managing PawsRx.
  1. What makes PawsRx unique?

PawsRx is a national directory of more than 25,000 veterinary practices and more than 3,600 grooming salons in which every fact on a listing, from opening hours and the animals a practice treats to how it handles emergencies and what it charges, is read from the business's own website and shown with the page it came from. If a practice does not publish something, PawsRx does not guess it. Pet owners can also post a question to Ask a Vet and get a written answer, and talk to other owners in the PawsRx community.

  2. Why should a person choose PawsRx over its competitors?

Because the facts can be checked. Each listing carries the practice's own words and a link to where they were published, so an owner can see which vets near them are open today, which treat their kind of animal, which take emergencies, and what a visit costs where the practice publishes it. Pet owners pay PawsRx nothing: no membership, no booking fee and no markup on what the practice charges. The visit is set by the practice and paid to the practice.

  3. How would you describe the primary audience of PawsRx?

Pet owners in the United States, mostly with dogs and cats, who need to find a vet, an emergency clinic or a groomer near them, or want to know what care costs before they call. On the business side, PawsRx serves independent veterinary practices and grooming salons that want more clients and a simpler way to take bookings.

  4. What's the story behind PawsRx?

PawsRx started from a simple problem: when a pet is sick or due for care, the basic facts an owner needs are scattered, out of date or missing. Is the clinic open today, does it see rabbits, what happens after hours, what will the exam cost? PawsRx reads each practice's own website and puts those answers in one place, with the source, and adds free ways for owners to ask questions. The company, PawsRx LLC, is based in San Francisco and covers practices and salons across the country.

  5. Who are some of the biggest customers of PawsRx?

    • Pet owners across the United States looking for a vet, an emergency clinic or a groomer
    • Independent veterinary practices, which can claim and manage their PawsRx page
    • Independent grooming salons, which can take bookings through PawsRx
