Maybe getting a single board computer that's more robust from the raspberry pi would save some headaches from the beginning though? Also, maybe something even simpler like a particle.io board would be just as easy to bring up, and be more reliable than a linux machine. Or maybe have a hybrid approach and have two computers or microcontrollers, in order to isolate the web component from the control system software. Source: almost 3 years ago
A few years ago I built and installed a thermocouple device using the particle.io and adafruit.io cloud services. It is placed near the exhaust of the generator and emails me when the temperature exceeds 250 degrees. It is the jankiest thing you've ever seen, but it has been reliable as hell for telling me when the generator is running. If I can alert the client before he alerts me, I can manage the...
