Clean, minimalist interface
Paperspur appears to offer a distraction-free writing environment that focuses on the content rather than cluttered menus, which can help users concentrate on writing tasks.
Simplicity for beginners
The straightforward design makes it accessible to users who may not be tech-savvy or who prefer simple tools over feature-heavy alternatives.
Fast and lightweight
Simpler platforms like this tend to load quickly and use fewer system resources compared to bloated word processors or content management systems.
Focused feature set
By not trying to be everything to everyone, the tool likely does a good job at its core purpose, whether that be writing, publishing, or organizing content.
Potentially lower cost
Niche or smaller platforms often have more affordable pricing tiers compared to major competitors with extensive feature sets.
Most tools focus on just one utilityโBitly for links, DocSend for document analytics, DocuSign for contracts, and WeTransfer for temporary file sends. Paperspur unifies all these into a single, premium, privacy-first dashboard. Furthermore, our SpurShare feature is unique: it allows zero-storage browser-to-browser P2P file transfers up to 100MB via WebRTC. The files stream directly between devices and never touch our servers, providing absolute security and privacy with zero trace.
Cost Efficiency: Instead of paying $150+/month for DocSend or DocuSign, you get PDF gating, contract signing, and data rooms in one place for a fraction of the cost. Absolute Privacy: With WebRTC P2P sharing and AES-256 encrypted vaults, you retain total ownership. We host data in the EU and do not sell user analytics. Actionable Analytics: Get visual page-by-page reader focus timelines and heatmaps so you know exactly which sections of your proposal or pitch deck captured a prospect's attention. Developer Integration: Custom branded domains, webhook configurations, and API keys are built-in from day one.
Founders & Startups: Pitching investors, secure deck sharing, and pre-sign NDA collection. Sales & Account Executives: Sending proposals, contracts, and marketing collateral while tracking buyer engagement. Privacy-First Professionals (HR, Legal, Finance): Securely sharing onboarding material, compliance forms, or financial assets under AES-256 encryption. Developers: Seeking programmatic control over shortened links, custom domains, and signature workflows.
I built Paperspur out of frustration with expensive software bills and data privacy concessions. I found subscribing to multiple expensive SaaS platforms to simply share pitch decks and sign contracts. I realized I could build a unified, security-first document workspace. During development, to solve the massive cloud storage overhead of temporary user file transfers, I built a WebRTC chunking relay. This allowed users to transfer files up to 100MB directly browser-to-browser (SpurShare), keeping our cloud storage bills at $0 and user data completely private.
Backend: FastAPI (Python), WebSockets (for WebRTC signaling and ICE relays), PostgreSQL SQLite, and Redis. Frontend: Vanilla HTML5, CSS3 (with responsive custom properties), and native Javascript (using browser WebRTC APIs and pdf.js for document rendering and focus tracking). Self-Hosting: Docker and Docker Compose.
Paperspur is currently in public beta, focusing on early adopters:
Seed and pre-seed startup founders using it for secure fundraising pitch decks. Independent real estate brokers distributing disclosure booklets and collecting digital contract signatures. Creative design agencies sharing drafts and tracking client review durations. Boutique consulting firms using secure vaults for confidential strategy sharing.
