  • Ask HN: What are you working on? (June 2026)
Pagecord! A personal website and blog... That you'll actually keep updated. It's an all-in-one, open source blogging/site analytics/newsletter platform that takes privacy seriously and is priced affordably (plus a free plan, obvs). Would love your feedback if you have a few mins to spare. The goal is to make you write more! https://pagecord.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 month ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (May 2026)
Pagecord. Blog without the slog. Blogging is more unpopular than ever but Pagecord is somehow growing in popularity. Keen to know what people here think. https://pagecord.com. - Source: Hacker News / 2 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (January 2026)
Iโ€™m building Pagecord: โ€œBlog without the slogโ€. https://pagecord.com To goal is to make you write more. Tonnes of features, including posting by email (my favourite way to blog). I love blogging and I want more people to go back to writing on their own blog and reduce time on the socials. It seems to be striking a chord with people. Free classic plan, bargain premium plan at only $29/year. Source available (Rails)... - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (December 2025)
Pagecord! An independent blogging and personal website builder. Source available. Itโ€™s not a novel idea but itโ€™s gaining decent traction because itโ€™s simple and (I think!) makes you want to write more. Which is basically why I built it. Blog by email, custom domains, internal private analytics, theming and more! Free forever plan, or only $29/yr for everything. Priced as I think personal/blogging sites should be.... - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Personal blogs are back, should niche blogs be next?
Good article. I build and run a new(ish) blogging app (Pagecord - https://pagecord.com) and Iโ€™m seeing all sorts of niche blogs pop up from cookery, photography, tech (of course!), gaming and science. Great to see blogging making a resurgence - RSS next! - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (Nov 2025
Pagecord - blog from your inbox! Free and source available. Give it a look :) https://pagecord.com. - Source: Hacker News / 8 months ago
  • 3x performance for 1/4 of the price by migrating from AWS to Hetzner
I'm at a small scale with https://pagecord.com but I did the same earlier this year. Couldn't be happier! https://olly.pagecord.com/migrating-the-pagecord-rails-app-from-aws-to-hetzner-373cf4cc. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (October 2025)
Iโ€™m building Pagecord to make blogging as effortless as posting on social media, but without the doomscrolling. https://pagecord.com Itโ€™s minimal in design, but packed with features. The USP that customers seem to really value is posting by email. It massively reduces the friction required to blog and is surprisingly enjoyable. Launching next week is custom home pages with dynamic variables. Itโ€™s in beta already,... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (September 2025)
Iโ€™m working on Pagecord. Blogging as easy as sending an email. https://pagecord.com Pagecord is free with a very full-featured (and cheap!) premium package. Email newsletter, custom domains, privacy-respecting analytics etc. Source is available. Ruby on Rails: https://github.com/lylo/pagecord. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
  • Typepad Is Shutting Down
Wow that's an incredible amount of views. And an incredible shame at the same time. If you want to try out my app Pagecord (https://pagecord.com) I'd happily try and help you migrate over. Biggest problem is the death of the *.typepad.com domain though. I wonder if they'd be willing to add 301 redirects for a year or three? One can hope... - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (July 2025)
Pagecord! Publish your writing effortlessly. All you need is email. Blogging, micro blogging, email newsletter, etc. Freemium, Open source, Ruby on Rails. https://pagecord.com. - Source: Hacker News / 12 months ago
  • Ask HN: Small bootstrapped founders โ€“ how do you prioritize resource allocation?
I don't have a plan for https://pagecord.com. Life's too short. YOLO, etc. My app is relatively feature rich right now so I would say I spend a lot more time on marketing. I still add features of course (and they are a form of marketing), but with AI help these take a lot less time than they used to. Trying to figure out distribution channels, build awareness and so on is the hard yards in 2025. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: If not Kubernetes, what do you use to run your apps?
I have a single server running https://pagecord.com. I use Hatchbox on a Hetzner server. I wrote a bit about it here: https://olly.pagecord.com/migrating-the-pagecord-rails-app-from-aws-to-hetzner-373cf4cc I have plenty of paying customers but I still think K8s would be complete overkill at this stage. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
Once I add private blogs/post support to Pagecord, it will kinda do this automatically. Maybe. Sort of. https://pagecord.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: What are you working on? (May 2025)
Pagecord (https://pagecord.com) - an open source blogging platform written in Rails. Post by email, reply by email, subscribe by email. Who needs Substack? - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ow I Blog with Obsidian, Hugo, GitHub, and Cloudflare โ€“ Zero Cost Owned
Big fan of Cloudflare Pages for static sites. Personally I prefer Jekyll (Ruby innit) and VS code but same workflow and result. These days for daily blogging I built Pagecord so I can just type an email and clicking Send :) https://pagecord.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (March 2025)
Https://pagecord.com Blogging by email. The best way to blog. Pagecord makes blogging so effortless you'll want to write more. Publish posts by sending an email (or use the Pagecord app). Your readers can follow you by RSS, or subscribe to your posts by email. Share long-form posts or short stream-of-consciousness thoughts. Both look great! Pagecord is independent, open source and built to last :). - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: Anyonne tried alternative company models (like a co-op) for SaaS?
Iโ€™ve been thinking about this lately for my publish-by-email app, Pagecord (https://pagecord.com). Iโ€™ve made it open source (https://github.com/lylo/pagecord) but Iโ€™ve been thinking it would be really cool if paying customers had a stake in it somehow. The Subvert model is interesting for sure. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Pagecord: Publish your writing effortlessly from your inbox
Very clear pitch at https://pagecord.com. The video explains it all in a few seconds. Clear distinction from being yet another minimalist blogigng platform or static site. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • I'm trying to use Bluesky without getting burned again
Itโ€™s an interesting point but social media (especially X and Bluesky) is largely ephemeral content. If it goes away, what have you really lost? Hot takes? Running your own blog on your own domain is a good idea and anything long-form would be on there not Bluesky, no? The vast majority of people will run their blog on a platform though, be that Wordpress or Bear or Ghost etc all of which (in theory!) could go... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Ask HN: What are you working on (August 2024)?
Iโ€™m building a calmer way to product and consume content. A delightfully simple blogging-by-email app, Pagecord (https://pagecord.com). $20/yr. A delightfully simple, all-in-one RSS reader (web and PWA), Feedgrab (https://feedgrab.net). FREE! Very early days (built quickly!) but both products are fully functional with customers. I have a lot of ideas around content discovery for Feedgrab. Give them a spin, Iโ€™d... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
