In this project, I built an app that weaves together these data: hourly weather forecasts from Open-Meteo and “on this day” historical events from History.muffinlabs. - Source: dev.to / about 2 months ago
Or much simpler and with many more models https://open-meteo.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
Next, we'll implement the tool. This is where we'll make an API call to the Open-Meteo API to retrieve the current weather for a given location. - Source: dev.to / 9 months ago
Free open API for weather --> https://open-meteo.com/ --> curl "https://api.open-meteo.com/v1/forecast?latitude=52.52&longitude=13.41¤t=temperature_2m,wind_speed_10m&hourly=temperature_2m,relative_humidity_2m,wind_speed_10m". - Source: dev.to / 9 months ago
Hi, I am building an Open-Source Weather API aggregating open-data weather models from NOAA, ECMWF, DWD, MeteoFrance, JMA, CMA, CMCC and others. I fully that many weather companies basically redistribute NWS data at a premium. There is a free API service available on https://open-meteo.com and all databases are redistributed via an AWS Open-Data Sponsorship. Feel free to reach out if you need help building your... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
OpenMeteo - https://open-meteo.com/ to get weather forecast. - Source: dev.to / about 1 year ago
Yup, just manually type your location in that window. Weather is coming (at least for now) from https://open-meteo.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I tried out the new omWeather and I definitely like it even better now. It uses a different data source, open-meteo.com, which doesn't require an API key the way OpenWeatherMap does, has better location search, has working sunrise/sunset time display, and a more informative main screen widget with observation and forecast information. Then I started to learn about wind and I got interested in getting wind details easily so to note them down. I asked around my community and I got an answer: open-meteo. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
We used free and open-source weather API Open Meteo to get a real-time forecast and convert data such as windspeed into the Beaufort scale for surveying. - Source: dev.to / about 2 years ago
I ran into this exact problem almost a year ago now when I first started learning. Simple answer is you can’t unless you build your own server and use environment variables. My solution was to use an API that doesn’t need a key. Source: about 2 years ago

Have you checked https://open-meteo.com/ ? Source: about 2 years ago
Https://open-meteo.com AND https://meteostat.net/en/ - Very similar sites here. If you have access to a Python console, this tool will save you SO much time navigating point forecast information, archives of weather data, certain model outputs for a certain location, and so much more. Weather data should be free since it can be life-saving, and these two sites do a great job of starting to break down the paywall... Source: about 2 years ago
In case you are also effected by the WeatherKit outage, you could consider my weather API open-meteo.com. I'd be happy to help out. Source: about 2 years ago
I am building another open source weather API: https://open-meteo.com. The architecture is radically simple. Local files similar to SQLite, but custom compression. The database gets synchronised using HTTP (nginx+sendfile) to different satellite nodes on different continents using cheap disposable VMs. The Open-Meteo API exceeds 50 million calls per day. I am sceptical it will be economic to run a free weather API... - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
If you have any way of accessing a console, open-meteo is by FAR your best friend. You can get readbacks from specific stations, specific points using interpolation techniques, etc. With very easy to understand codes that are explicitly given in the documentation section of the website! So I just created my first app ever a weather app using https://open-meteo.com/. Source: about 2 years ago
