I built NoSuggest because I kept opening YouTube with one video in mind and closing it an hour later having watched none of it. The problem isn't YouTube's content. It's the recommendation engine wrapped around it. Designed to maximise watch time, not to serve the viewer.
NoSuggest is a distraction-free YouTube client. You add the channels you follow or search a video. That's all you see. No suggested videos, no recommendation, no auto-play, no Shorts, no sidebar, no notifications. Nothing loads except what you chose.
A few technical details that might interest this crowd:
The frontend is a single HTML file. No framework, no build step. A lightweight Cloudflare Worker handles API proxying to keep credentials off the client. Everything user-facing - watch history, channel list. It stays in localStorage and never leaves the device.
The thing I am most proud of: it works on mobile. Browser extensions don't. Most screen time happens on phones, which is exactly where distraction tools tend to fail. NoSuggest installs as a PWA directly from the browser.
It also has a kids mode. Parents add approved channels and lock with a PIN.
Completely Free, source-available frontend on GitHub. No account needed. No sign-in. Just open nosuggest.com and start using. Everything stays on the device.

Recommendation Blocking
Hides YouTube home feed recommendations, sidebar suggestions, and end screens.
Custom Feeds
Add your favorite channels to curate and get custom feeds without the main algorithm.
Save Videos
Bookmark and save videos directly within the app to watch later.
Kids Mode
A safe, distraction-free environment tailored specifically for children.
Unlike traditional distraction-free extensions that simply hide YouTube elements, NoSuggest goes a step further by letting you actively build your own experience. It replaces the addictive algorithm with intentional tools, allowing you to curate custom feeds from your favorite channels, save videos for later, and toggle a dedicated Kids Mode for a safe, controlled environment.
NoSuggest is built for students, professionals, and creators who want to use YouTube as an educational or entertainment tool without falling into doom-scrolling traps. It is also designed for parents who want a highly tailored, distraction-free "Kids Mode" environment for their children without relying on YouTube's default algorithms.

Most competitors only focus on blocking and removing features, leaving you with a blank screen. NoSuggest gives you the best of both worlds: it strips away the dopamine-driven recommendation loops, but provides practical features like custom channel feeds and a secure Kids Mode so you can still use YouTube productively and safely. And there is none in the market which can work reliably in the mobile where real doom scrolling happens.

NoSuggest is a web-based tool designed to provide a distraction-free YouTube watching experience while maintaining user privacy. It falls within the productivity and privacy-focused YouTube tools category, competing with alternatives like PocketTube, FreeTube, NewPipe, YouTube itself, and Invidious.io.
Based on available context and product mentions, NoSuggest is generally positioned favorably among users who want a lightweight, zero-friction solution to reduce YouTube's algorithmically-driven distractions โ such as recommended videos, autoplay suggestions, and other engagement-maximizing UI elements โ without sacrificing the core viewing experience.
The most frequently highlighted advantages in comparative discussions include:
In head-to-head comparisons (e.g., "NoSuggest vs YouTube vs PocketTube vs FreeTube"), the product is typically recommended for users who want the simplest path to distraction-free viewing without compromising on compatibility or media quality. FreeTube tends to be favored by privacy-maximalists who want to avoid Google's ecosystem entirely, while NoSuggest appeals to a broader audience that values convenience and ease of use alongside reduced distractions.
Given that NoSuggest still relies on YouTube's official player and infrastructure, users seeking complete independence from Google's tracking and data collection may find tools like FreeTube or Invidious.io more aligned with their privacy requirements. The trade-off between maximum privacy and seamless usability is a recurring theme in these discussions.
Public opinion around NoSuggest is largely positive but niche โ it resonates most with productivity-conscious users who find YouTube's recommendation engine distracting and want an effortless, cross-platform solution without the overhead of installing dedicated apps. Its simplicity is both its greatest strength and its defining characteristic in a competitive landscape of YouTube alternative tools.
