I use Monodraw[0]. Best purchase I ever made. [0] https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
For a native macOS app, there is also Monodraw [1], which is great. [1] https://monodraw.helftone.com. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Agreed. And the diagrams are still pointless, IMO. Previously someone might sketch out a purposeful one in Monodraw (https://monodraw.helftone.com) or something. Now Claude shits out this vacuous nonsense by the bucketloadโโโbut it's some interconnected boxes in a code block in README.md, so it must be good. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
Thanks! I use https://monodraw.helftone.com/ which is my favorite one-time-purchase software of all time. I definitely agree the buttons on the top left are unnecessary but ... it's cute and it makes me happy so I can't help it. Maybe I'll come up with a different style for the next blog. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
Looks super cool, congrats! Monodraw[1] is a similar product delivered as a standalone macOS app. Itโs a classic pay once-type license and very polished software. Cannot recommend enough! Iโve always wanted something as good on Linux though, will definitely give this a go! [1] https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
99% sure this is not what you're asking for, but I think it's worth mentioning monodraw: https://monodraw.helftone.com It's really useful for embedding diagrams in your code. Not so much for uses outside of code though. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
I have been using Monodraw for a long time: https://monodraw.helftone.com/ It's a macOS app and I've found it great. However if given an ASCII diagram, you cannot edit it with the same ease as creating a new one (e.g. Reflowing text or resizing boxes). I really like the idea of having the mermaid source and the ASCII diagram together, so you could use the source to change the diagram if needed. But I feel that... - Source: Hacker News / almost 2 years ago
And then you can perform further edits using something like https://asciiflow.com/ (web, free) or https://ivanceras.github.io/bob-editor/ (web, free) or https://monodraw.helftone.com/ (Mac only, proprietary) as mentioned in other comments from https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=37040883. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
Typograms could be great with the monodraw app on macOS. I'm a very happy customer of monodraw-- not affiliated in any way. https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
Admittedly, creating that asciiart by hand is obnoxious, but tools like monodrow https://monodraw.helftone.com/ make it easy. However, then we're right back at the question of why bother using markdown if you're making complicated graphics in another tool anyway. I love Monodraw and use it for many things (it can create svg and png and other formats not just ascii) but yeah, it doesn't seem like a great solution... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
Iโve been using MonoDraw https://monodraw.helftone.com/ for this exact sort of stuff for years, was one of the main reasons I bought the program actually. A good diagram in a block comment right above or below done complicated code is a ready powerful way to make sure youโre going to be able to maintain that code in the future. I find flowchart style diagrams for finite state machines and UML(ish) sequence... - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
The given URL is about what's new in 1.6 and mostly boils down to: * "app icon, document icon and welcome window", * "ability to simultaneously edit multiple shapes of the same type", * "minimum OS requirement has been raised to macOS 11 Big Sur". For an overview of the software, see this URL: https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
There's this neat mac app called Monodraw. It costs 10 bucks but worth every penny because it's like a vector editor for ascii. I'd recommend it if you do a lot of textual diagrams and such. https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
If you have a Mac, Monodraw [1] includes figlet - just select a Font from the rect/text tool. It also supports custom/additional figlet fonts. [1] https://monodraw.helftone.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
Yup, correct. I used Monodraw [0] for that (and the diagrams in the book). Highly recommend Monodraw, easily one of the loveliest pieces of Mac software I used. And it just got an update! [0]: https://monodraw.helftone.com. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
Monodraw - https://monodraw.helftone.com/ like paint but for ascii art I used it to come up with the new gitleaks logo: https://github.com/zricethezav/gitleaks. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
I use Monodraw for exactly this purpose. I love that app! All diagrams in my documentations look like that :) Unfortunately, Monodraw is macOS only. Source: about 4 years ago
Yes, done by hand, a lot of elbow grease. Same with the animation which took an insane amount of time (700 frames). Shout out to MonoDraw (Berkeley Mono works wonderfully with it): https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
Thank you for sharing https://monodraw.helftone.com/. I've been painfully documenting my code with hand crafted ASCII diagrams. Hopefully that ends today. - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
Awesome! Since switching from Mac to Linux I've been really missing Monodraw[1] for generating diagrams suitable for code comments. Emacs artist-mode is nice but I struggled to get the hang of it, will definitely be trying this! [1] https://monodraw.helftone.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
The best app I know of for this is Monodraw (https://monodraw.helftone.com/). - Source: Hacker News / over 4 years ago
