  • Install maps.me on ios 12
I am trying to install the application maps.me to have better navigation on my iphone 6 running ios 12. I tried to use checkmate store + adowngrader without any luck. I was thinking about sideloading a older version of that app. Can anyone help me? Source: 8 months ago
  • Maps.me/offline map apps?
I've downloaded maps.me to try. I don't have to have offline navigation but the marking and categorization of those marks is an absolute must. However, I noticed that I can't sync across devices with this one either. I've created a login through my Apple ID but haven't paid for any of the tiers. Does this app not support syncing across devices or do I have to pay for that feature? Source: 9 months ago
  • Solar Storm
GPS and cell outages: Buy a Road Atlas for your State, and practice using it to plan a trip. Also download an offline map app for your phone, i.e. maps.me or Osmand. Most will let you download a certain number of maps to your phone for free. Source: 10 months ago
  • What do you guys think about the new Sony Walkman?
I was reluctant to go the Android route with an audio player because it felt a bit pointless and just like having a smartphone, but I read that the screen is quite small, the system's performance is severely restrained and oriented towards audio processing, and you can remove practically every thing that comes with Android. I don't intend to use its other apps because I'd hate anything calling my attention when... Source: 10 months ago
  • Visiting Cologne
You will enjoy it! :) First of all, I recommend using the app maps.me for exploring the inner city. Source: 10 months ago
  • Mexico is missing.
Yes. We have google maps, with the maps downloaded, as well as maps.me as backups :) Prefer waze just because of user sourced updates, but for sure we will be fine on navigating to Guatemala. Source: 11 months ago
  • Chile Patagonia O Circuit
It's worth having an offline map like maps.me for navigation. The only major exposure risk is around the John Garner Pass as you head towards Grey Glacier, but if the situation is extreme, the rangers at Los Perros or wherever will either not let you go, or ensure you leave early to beat inclement danger. • Google Maps
There were some spots with low data access. Download google maps off line, use maps.me, get a paper map. We used all three. Source: 11 months ago
  • TfL Go app
Any other travel apps other than the usual (Yelp, TripAdvisor, GoogleMaps, maps.me etc ) folks can recommend for our upcoming jaunt to London? Source: 11 months ago
  • Getting robbed at gunpoint in Honduras - What's the worst experience you've had as a backpacker?
Got lost in around Thakhek, Laos following google map directions. What should have been an hour walk to the bank and bus station, ended up being almost 3 hours. During this time, I was walking in farmland, chased by dogs, got caught in a downpour and ended up walking along the highway being splashed in mud by passing vehicles. Why not turn around you say? Because google keep showing the bus stop was less than 10... Source: 11 months ago
  • Mountains are hard, but so far Japan is going great!
Google maps is a good back-up and ideal for city searching. I would use a map app with useful features like elevation, routing, recording your route, etc like maps.me or Locus maps (very detailed but not too happy with their split on multiple apps just further complicating things) or something to use in the planning stage that gives you the street view so you can see the condition of the road/path/trail. • Are offline map apps good?
I download maps.me and Google Maps when I travel to areas without cell signal (like hiking or foreign countries), but I don't use them as a daily driver. Source: 12 months ago
  • What’s your favorite navigation app for accuracy, the one that never or hardly ever leads you to the wrong place?
Maps.me (mapsWithMe) Particularly if you are off road in places like Nepal/Brazil or wilderness areas (they include trails). Source: 12 months ago
  • Starting next week, I will be motorbiking solo through Vietnam from North to South. This is part of a larger trip that ends in Singapore. Would love to know some places to stop along the way in VN where Digital Nomads to hang out.
Thanks, I made my out route through maps.me which I'll loosely follow haha. Ill be making a loop through the Hai Van Pass once I'm in Da Nang. Source: 12 months ago
  • Is getting a Sim card cheap & a way to use Google Maps?
I actually prefer maps.me for Aruba. It, too, has an offline mode. Source: 12 months ago
  • Best way to find and navigate hiking trails around Bariloche
I did the Refugio circuit in the middle of winter fully self sufficient. If you have back country experience then the direction(s) will be easy to follow regardless of trail visibility because of obvious geographic features. Download the maps.me map or have a physical map and route it out prior. Camp wherever you like in the winter, nobody else is out there. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Recent experience with car rentals ? Can I get a car with navigation ?
Use maps.me recommended by local and Royal Car rental I’m going in may but this is what I’m going with. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Interested in traveling to Mongolia in August - would like some tips!
Thank you for the recommendation! Do you think maps.me. Will be enough for navigating the roads if I were to bike around without a guide? Source: about 1 year ago
  • OS maps aren’t worth it
If you're looking for trails that aren't in the wild I love maps.me but if in the mountains I'd look at OS Maps/Harvey or similar. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Questions about internet connectivity, gas and groceries
We took a paper map, downloaded offline maps and had maps.me app too. Source: about 1 year ago
