  • SF III 3d strike japan no cd - can you change region?
Why not just recommend a proper version of MAME from mamedev.org. Source: about 1 year ago
  • CPS3 games having character sprite issues
If you're using an official MAME build from mamedev.org then there's no logical reason why something would fail in the middle of writing out the NVRAM files, leaving them in a corrupt state, unless you've done something really stupid like write protected some corrupt files in there? Source: about 1 year ago
  • Need Help: Playing a TI99/4A Game for Christmas
I tried running the .wav file from the download link you gave in MAME 0.249 using the ti99_4a driver. The command "takpie" is recognized, and other six-letter commands, like "sayelv, are deemed invalid and bring up statements like "INCORRECT STATEMENT" and "I DO NOT KNOW". The game does not appear to crash, so it might just be an issue with your copy of MAME. I recommend getting the latest version from... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Help w/Student Project with older CPUs
Get the latest release of MAME from https://mamedev.org/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Question: Original DK Arcade Cab - RBP Build or 60in1?
You can use any PC (I recommend an i5 or newer so you can go back 10+ years easy for a junker). To set it up, all you need to do is install MAME (just unzip the file you get from mamedev.org) and install your front end of choice (I am using MaLa on my DK but I also like Attract Mode and Gamelauncher). Point the front end to mame.exe and make sure your games are in the roms folder (that is in the mame zip file). ... Source: over 2 years ago
  • Akai Katana and DDP Saidaioujou removed from MAME via legal request from Exa-Arcadia
Is it removed from all versions I can download from mamedev.org ? Source: over 2 years ago
  • Editing MAME2003 HI file (Elf on the shelf)
You can do it by going to mamedev.org , download MAME 0.238, tell the application to extract to the directory where MAME2003 is, then wait for the app to finish extracting. Source: over 2 years ago
  • So I can’t get MAME to launch, it was working fine. Now I get these errors with -verbose mode. No Roms will play. Could use some help.
Then download the current MAME from mamedev.org. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Was Capcom vs Snk 2 properly emulated on Mame?
If you're on a supported platform, using the latest official binary from mamedev.org or *always* the better option. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Games freezing or not playable under MAME 0.232
I already link the FAQ in my first response. It is part of the Documentation on mamedev.org, the official site for MAME. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • How to tell ROM version of game from PCB?
There's a contact form on mamedev.org if you do manage to produce better scans. Source: almost 3 years ago
  • Toying with the idea of streaming
Yeah, we'd definitely prefer it if you stuck with official versions, I've joined too many streams with people giving bad advice that isn't helpful to the project. Point people at mamedev.org , and/or the MAME social media accounts (eg https://twitter.com/mamedev_org ) and you're helping the cause. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Can't figure out why sound in Tempest is messed up
r/MAME does not support using MAME through RetroArch. In all likelihood, you may not experience this problem if you use real MAME. Try using actual MAME from http://mamedev.org, and if you still have the problem, repost. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Need help writing down type-in games, trying to experience the 80s as a modern day teenager
Of course, there are likely similar archives and sites for other '80s 8-bit home machines. User groups formed around each make and model. You can look into the ZX Spectrum, the VIC-20, the Commodore 64—the list goes on. For many of these machines you may very well be able to use MAME to enjoy them without investing in hardware.
