  I can highly recommend magoosh.com (including their blog). They have a prep program with quite a lot of math problems with full explanations. I worked on improving my scores from ~162-163, and it went up all the way to 169 (I got 170 on but practice tests, but... well). Source: over 2 years ago

• For those that are PhD / graduate students, how did you know that you wanted to go into research? What actions did you take during your undergraduate degree that you found helpful or wished you could change?

  As for GRE, I will preface my answer by stating that different people will have different strategies that work best for them. I started with all the common GRE practice books. When I say I had them all and went through all of them, I mean it. Unfortunately, those didn't work very well for me. What I found to be the most useful was magoosh.com.   Getting in may be a challenge, and if you don't get in the first time, that's what your Jr or community college can fix for you. However, your HS GPA isn't the be all end all. Get your SAT or ACT score up and reapply, mention your new discipline that this gun club everyone loves to hate gave you, and send those applications in. • It's been 14+ years since I took a math course.

  Hey! I'm in a similar boat. It's been about 6 years for me since college, 8 years since I've taken math. Since I basically have to reteach myself high school math, I've been using a study plan I bought from magoosh.com.
