I've really enjoyed this macOS Whisper GUI[1]. It doesn't use MLX, but does use Metal. 1. https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Finding a OOS business model is non-trivial. Maybe you should talk to https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper to get some inspiration? People are paying for convenience. As for the technology itself: the B2B market is super-super early and I understand everybody is in goldrush mode, however 98% of all startups will not survive the next 3-5 years. From the demand site: Companies are still sleeping, you can see... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Because MacWhisper is free for the tiny and base models and the paid version only costs $25 - https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
What was the fine tune? How does this compare to what is possible using https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper for example? Thanks! - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
You can use Whisper to transcribe the audio to text locally on the mac. You have a great Open-source implementation named whisper.cpp and a few graphical user interfaces for it: https://github.com/ggerganov/whisper.cpp https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper Personally I use MacWhisper pro because it’s very convenient. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
I recently started using an app called MacWhisper: https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper. Source: 10 months ago
Does MacWhisper seem like what you need? I’ve never used it myself, but I’ve heard good things about it. Source: 10 months ago
If you're on a Mac, you should take a look at MacWhisper. It's an AI-fueled transcription app. No subscription. Transcriptions I get from it are every bit as good as the paid services. Source: 10 months ago
MacWhisper is free AI-powered transcription app. Source: 11 months ago
If you’re on a Mac, MacWhisper (https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper) is AMAZING. The most recent update allows you to transcribe system sound, so say you’re on Teams or Meet or something, you can directly transcribe as you’re listening. Source: 11 months ago
MacWhisper is a GUI for OpenAI's Whisper Model that can auto-generate SRT files for you. I've been pretty impressed with the results, but as others have said, though, no ML Output will be certified. You'll still need to manually go through it to verify everything. It may give you a good starting point, however. Source: 11 months ago
If you have a mac computer you might want to try out the free app called MacWhisper (https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper). Source: 12 months ago
Whisper is the best you can get without paying a lot for commercial tools. The large AI model is excellent, almost perfect. I don’t know that it can identify between different speakers yet, though. https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper. Source: 11 months ago
The app is pretty similar to MacWhisper by u/ineedlesssleep and both do the job well. Source: 12 months ago
I would like a simple and elegant overlay, and all Whisper models should be available for selection. Currently, I am using MacWhisper (https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper), but I am unable to configure the SRT files. The subtitle blocks in MacWhisper are too long, and when I try to shorten them using my own Python script, the text is no longer synchronized with the audio. Source: about 1 year ago

For Whisper transcription, MacWhisper is good, too. Source: about 1 year ago

I don't know when I am going to get around to it but my idea was to just take the contents of the Mckenna torrent and spit it into MacWhisper: https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper. Source: about 1 year ago
The 4-bit quantized models are 4GB for 7B and 8GB for 13B. I'm not too worried about CLI shenanigans, because of what happened with whisper.cpp - it resulted in apps like https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper - wouldn't be at all surprised to see the same happen with llama.cpp A regular M1 with 8GB of RAM appears to be good enough to run that 7B model. I wonder at what point it will run on an iPhone... The... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
