If you need to use compute to produce some data to be stored in memory, your overall throughput could very well be faster than without compression. You need to catch up mate, ARK-4 now comes with an updated infinity bootloader. It is now possible to quad boot firmwares (which I did). The good thing about this is that if one firmware refuses to do something, you can try it on another firmware. Of course most just settle with one firmware, I'd personally recommend pro or ark, simply because it supports ZSO with LZ4 compression, which is very CPU efficient... Source: about 5 years ago
