Check levels.fyi , SoundCloud Level4, Level5 are barely reaching 100K with YOE 8-10 years. N26 - L4(Senior), L5(Lead) have avg TC around 80-85 and 100-105 respectively. Generally speaking I think hardware design jobs do pay a little less than SWE roles. I dont know about half though. You can use a site like levels.fyi which has some data on salaries to compare. If want a more realistic and generalized data set, I would look at ZipRecruiter data & Indeed, and here is what they have to say. Note that Indeed also has FAANG salary data reported as well.
