  • I can't stand using VSCode so I wrote my own (it wasn't easy)
Keep an eye on https://lapce.dev/ and https://zed.dev/ . Both immature, but show a lot of promise! - Source: Hacker News / 18 days ago
  • From 1s to 4ms
Https://lapce.dev/ This is Zed replacement for me. Cross platform. Same performance as Zed. Written in Rust for all the benefits. - Source: Hacker News / 3 months ago
  • Show HN: Open-source alternatives to tools You pay for
As a Neovim afficionado - I think you lose some credibility recommending it as an alternative to VSCode and Sublime. They're different beasts. I imagine a lot of people would be immediately turned off if they were expecting a VSCode/Sublime-like editing experience. I'd put Lapce in that spot: https://lapce.dev/. - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
  • Lapce Editor v0.3 Released
I do not see any indication of its "not-readiness" anywhere in the README https://github.com/lapce/lapce So while it isn't claiming to be ready, their content does not tell otherwise. Yes, the version is 0.3, but Neovim is at 0.9. - Source: Hacker News / 6 months ago
  • Codelite
I've recently started using [Lace](https://lapce.dev/) as a sort of barebones VSCode alternative and I find it nice for the hobbyist use case. It integrates with all the things I need, and other less mature features I bypass completely (I prefer to do Git from the terminal anyway). - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Lightweight dev tools.
Here comes Lapce; a "Lightning-fast and Powerful Code Editor" written in Rust (are you seeing a theme here?). When they say "lightning-fast" they're not kidding. Despite the website saying it's "pre-alpha" it has a surprisingly full feature set:. - Source: dev.to / 9 months ago
  • What setup do you use to program in rust?
I daily use Lapce. I like how much faster it is comparing to PyCharm + Rust plugin. While it misses some features of the large IDEs it does the minimal I need: helping with imports, go to definition, go to usages, renaming of the symbol multi-panel view, remote editing via SSH. And it's written in Rust, so I'm eager to contribute one day. Source: about 1 year ago
  • FOSS alternative to VS CODE for Arch Linux
Lapce is promising but still in early development. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Floem - yet another new Rust native UI library
Originally created as the new UI library for Lapce code editor, Floem focuses on performance and user experience. Source: about 1 year ago
  • How to use an old laptop to learn programming?
If you want something even faster you could use Lapce instead of VS Code. It's similar to VS Code, but Lapce is written in Rust so it uses much less memory and runs faster. Source: about 1 year ago
  • rust-analyzer churning at 100% CPU, never stopping
I've had this problem many times since I only have a dual-core CPU on a laptop. Interestingly I've never encountered this issue with the Lapce, now this might be a fluke since I haven't used lapce nearly as much as vscode, but it's responsiveness compared to vscode is ridiculous. I often have to close vscode and let the laptop cool down, but never with lapce. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Helix (a Kakoune / Neovim inspired editor) 23.03
Helix is awesome, though once Lapce (spiritual successor to Xi editor) gets the Helix/Kakoune editing model, I may have to jump ship. Source: about 1 year ago
  • What do you think is the next major direction for Rust adoption?
One of the bigger desktop GUI Rust application projects of which I'm aware is the Lapce text editor/IDE and it uses a fork of an earlier GUI exploration. Source: about 1 year ago
  • GitHub Copilot X: The AI-powered developer experience
My dev machine is sufficiently beefy (32G of RAM). I recently tried https://lapce.dev/ and was very surprised that it was noticeably more snappy than VSC. (I am not super sensitive to that kind of thing after years spent in Eclipse/IDEA.). Made me realize how I can just become accustomed to a certain amount of lagging.... - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
  • Link To Discord
Hey everyone! Does anyone have a link to the discord? Links seem to be broken on github and https://lapce.dev/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • [Media] Loving the language so much that i bought the book
Not a true fan, you aren’t using Lapce (https://lapce.dev/). Source: about 1 year ago
  • What was the hardest coming from C++ to Rust?
Going to give a shoutout to druid. I've recently tried it with the Lapce editor and it's just so smooth, fast and works so well for a pre-alpha app. Source: about 1 year ago
  • COSMIC DE: February Discussions
An alternative (albeit not as powerful) to VS Code written in Rust - Lapce I like the idea to use Wasm for extensions. Not suggesting to integrate or reuse Lapce. The text editors ecosystem is expanding. Source: about 1 year ago
