I only read kepub files on my Kobo Clara 2E (kobo stock). I use KOReader to read PDF, CBZ (comic files) and epub. Source: 5 months ago
You can easily modify it (like adding KOReader). Source: 5 months ago
It doesn't try to solve the same use cases that Calibre does, but I built an open source (EPUB only) manager / reader / statistics tracker called AnthoLume [0]. It mostly stemmed from me reading in KOReader [1] on my Kindle, and not having the ability to sync the progress to my iPhone / iPad. It's got metadata matching, support for multiple users, and statistics tracking which allows me to have a "Leaderboard"... - Source: Hacker News / 5 months ago
Hi! I recently became the owner of an e-reader, and wanted an easy way to get web articles from Hacker News and my bookmarks onto the device, on-demand, for easy reading. I'm using KOReader (https://koreader.rocks/) on my device, and like lots of e-book readers it allows browsing online catalogs of books (e.g. From sources like Project Gutenberg) using the OPDS protocol. News2reader is a self-hosted Node... - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
No I don't have any special lag. But I also don't use the default reading app, I use Koreader. I think the normal reading app also doesn't have much lag. Most modern eReaders have much less than 5s lag. Source: 10 months ago
For any Kobo (as well as Kindle & PocketBook) owners considering stock firmware alternatives, there's also [KOReader](http://koreader.rocks/)l. - Source: Hacker News / 10 months ago
If you can't get it working, you might try KOReader. They have AppImage builds available for Linux. Source: 11 months ago
Yes! Actually there's a lot of support for jailbreaking older Kindles out there. I use KOReader on mine, which natively supports RSS/Atom (as well as Wallabag). Source: 11 months ago
I sideload the KOReader apk on my Fire. I use it for EPUB and also as a better PDF reader than the one Amazon includes on the Fire. Source: 11 months ago
Https://koreader.rocks/ a reading software designed for Kobos! It is not official, but the installation is very simple and it has a lot of features. You can try it on android or linux first if you want to check it out. Source: 12 months ago

KOReader (version v2023.04): Ebook reader with support for many formats like PDF, DjVu, EPUB, FB2, CBZ. Source: 12 months ago
I have one. It's basically fine. Use https://koreader.rocks/ as the actual reader - that gets updated all the time. Source: about 1 year ago
I ended up ditching the default reader on the leaf which is just OK, and I swapped to KOreader. KOreader is basically a program designed for enthusiast eink readers for eink devices, that is super intimidating at first (imo) then once you have it dialed it in, it is amazing. I have everything from my touch gestures to my reading status bar dialed into exactly how I like it. It has super detailed reading statistics... Source: about 1 year ago
Eh... Not exactly. My Kindles are jailbroken, and the reader I've installed and use on them is KOReader (https://koreader.rocks). That's what reads my ePubs (and PDFs, Djvus, anything, really). No more converting files in Calibre. Source: about 1 year ago
It does if your EPUB reader supports it—which most don't, but a few do! I am partial to http://koreader.rocks/. - Source: Hacker News / about 1 year ago
Yeah, it's not open hardware, and not an open source operating system (although it can run KOReader), but it's not as locked down as you expect in this day and age, and you don't need an account and are not locked in to their ebook selection. Source: about 1 year ago
I use https://koreader.rocks/ - it's a brilliant app for reading ePub books. Source: about 1 year ago
They can be jailbroken. I did it to mine and just transfer epub files to it and read those with Koreader. Source: about 1 year ago
I use a kobo with https://koreader.rocks/ for reading pdfs, works great and syncs progress with the same app on my phone. Source: about 1 year ago
You're unlikely to find a dedicated eReader OS. But I can recommend the KOReader app for Android - https://koreader.rocks/. Source: about 1 year ago
