  • Open Source Communities
KDE community has many apps (especially Plasma desktop, Kdenlive and Krita) and the devs are friendly and awesome ! Scribus is in total need of help. (only two devs are maintaining the whole project) Manjaro is a popular Arch based distro that helps Linux users to benefit from rolling release model while maintaining stability. And the team is much better and friendly than those creepy and arrogant Arch dinosaurs. Source: 11 months ago
  • why kubuntu ?
I mean, just look at all the apps they develop: https://apps.kde.org/ Every single one of them is arguably the best in its field. You could install them on another DE... But why? Source: 12 months ago
  • Your top 3 favourite KDE apps
So many others!! Check them out for yourself at https://apps.kde.org/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Every time you search on Google, look at Gmail, write a Google doc, etc, without using Chrome as your default browser, Google will nag you to use Chrome instead of alternative browsers. This is unfair and anti-competitive. Should the EU step in?
KDE makes a lot of nice daily software, like krita (graphic editor), kde connect (sync stuff among devices), kate (great text editor), and many more. Source: about 1 year ago
  • KDE as a DE on a linux system, Kubuntu, or KDE Plasma? what are the main differences?
The difference between the two is how recent their KDE software is and how often said KDE software is updated. KDE Neon's KDE software is up-to-date, on par with the latest stable releases, updated every week maybe, be it features or bug fixes (again, KDE software only, see apps.kde.org). • Does anyone else think the nav on the websites need to be more unified?
    Https://apps.kde.org/dolphin/ https://bugs.kde.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=dolphin https://invent.kde.org/system/dolphin/-/issues https://userbase.kde.org/Dolphin https://forum.kde.org/viewforum.php?f=222 https://docs.kde.org/?application=dolphin. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Difference between KDE and KDE Plasma?
KDE Plasma is the desktop environment made by KDE. It's sometimes called just KDE because, duh, it shorter. The apps included in Plasma are also made by the KDE (also see KDE Gear). Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Found this page on kde.org
In https://apps.kde.org/ you can search KDE applications by category, including utilities! Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Is KDE going down the road of dumbing down desktop apps for "consistency"?
Niccolove said in a video that mauikit and maui apps are part of KDE, but maui shell is not. Also, many maui apps are in https://apps.kde.org. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Is there an "app equivalency" chart for MacOS converts?
This page gives a few apps you can consider, with their functions. You can click on the app names and go to their individual pages to learn more. You can also install the apps using certain graphical app stores. There are other lists, but those are either less comprehensive or too technical. Source: about 2 years ago
  • I’m using my Dick as my main computer. What are some cool apps I can install on it?
Since SteamDeck uses Plasma, from KDE, I assume all KDE Applications are going to integrate and work well: https://apps.kde.org/. Source: about 2 years ago
  • People who don't like KDE, in which aspects is it "too much"?
Just compare any KDE app with some of the Gnome apps or the circle apps. Source: about 2 years ago
  • Started designing covers for apps I might add to my Steam Deck library. Which one would you want?
Actually, I forgot they had this: https://apps.kde.org/. Source: about 2 years ago
  • What do you think about KDE apps?
My uses: I like and use the KDE apps Kate (text editor), Okular (PDF & other format viewer), Okteta (hex editor), Konsole (terminal), Gwenview (image viewer), Digikam (photo manager), Kdenlive (video editor) and Spectacle (screenshot utility). Source: about 2 years ago
  • Why KDE has multiple projects for similar task ?
I today came to know about Kaffeine and then started to scroll https://apps.kde.org/ I found that there is quite a few app to do similar task. Like there is Dragon Player (Video Player), Kaffeine (Media Player), Elisa (Music Player), Vvave, JuK (Music Player), KMplayer. Doesn't having these many apps hinder development of individual apps ? Source: about 2 years ago
  • Is there's any other video editing software rather than Kdenlive ?
Kdenlive is KDE's only video editor. You can see all KDE apps on https://apps.kde.org. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What if I Create an "Install Now" Button for AUR to Install Packages in 1 click like Chrome Extensions
That's already possible with appstream (e.g check apps.kde.org) but unfortunately arch has poor appstream support. Source: over 2 years ago
  • What’s everyone’s list of non-game software to download? (SMS, email clients, social media?)
Check out these links to see software available for Linux: Https://flathub.org/home Https://apps.kde.org/. Source: over 2 years ago

  • Plasma (Deck's Desktop UI) - 25th Anniversary
Also good to know is that Plasma isn't just UI but a desktop environment, so it comes with a bundle of apps. There is alot of good software available like Krita (Paint/Image editor), Kdenlive (Video editor) and Okular (Simple clean document viewer). Source: over 2 years ago
