  • A list of SaaS, PaaS and IaaS offerings that have free tiers of interest to devops and infradev
KeybaseKeybase is a FOSS alternative to Slack; it keeps everyone's chats and files safe, from families to communities to companies. - Source: dev.to / 3 months ago
  • Ask HN: Why Keybase?
Along with many others, I did the Keybase identification thingy - adding the key on my Hacker News profile. Do you still use Keybase, how, why — what’s different?

  • Privacy on RM2
I've been using Quiver for a few years, configured to store its notes in a Keybase directory so they're stored securely and sync'ed across my machines. However, Quiver has its own issues - you can add tags on items but you can't do anything with them. Also, it seems the developer has stopped doing any maintenance on the program, the last update was a few years ago, so I'm looking for another solution. I keep... Source: 5 months ago
  • Is the hidden .onion address working for anyone?
Connecting through the Tor browser, the official .onion address displayed on keybase.io isn't working for me. Source: 8 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are the big/important problems to work on?
Solving the trust and bad actor problems on the internet, without turning the internet into a set of restrictive walled gardens. Personally I think it's partly solvable with a combination of cryptographically signed HTML elements and a web of trust similar to Raph Levien's https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Advogato or https://keybase.io/ But it's going to be a big piece of work. - Source: Hacker News / 9 months ago
  • Feature Request: Deviate from PGP standard
As a real-world example, last week at $DAYJOB I needed to send some passwords to a cow-orker in another part of the world, who doesn't use Keybase yet. The message body containing the passwords was encrypted, but the "email subject line" said something innocuous like "Baseball scores". Source: 10 months ago
  • is it possible to map Proton Drive to a local Folder on Linux?
This is probably the biggest reason I use KBFS, which is part of Keybase. Source: 11 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are these Keybase URLs I see in many HN profiles?
This is not guerilla marketing, I swear. I see these https://keybase.io public key URLs in many HN profiles. Of course, I checked out the website and I get the gist of it. But is it actually really popular? For active Keybase users, what do you use it for primarily? - Source: Hacker News / 11 months ago
  • About that Proton Messaging App...
I use Keybase for encrypted "chat", plus for the encrypted global shared filesystem, plus encrypted git repos, all of which are available for talking/sharing between sets of two or more people, or for "teams" which allow people to be added or removed dynamically. (It does more than just these things, but these are what I primarily use it for.). Source: 12 months ago
  • Is Keybase dead?
As per 1. It makes an impression of something on life support since 1087 days - there is hardly any update on keybase.io (date has been updated on the page), blog is dated 5/7/2020, some services were shut down - recently keybase.pub. There are some commits on github, mainly cosmetics and bug fixings. IMO it's closer to dead than alive. Source: 12 months ago
  • YOUR OPSEC SUCKS | UHQ SCHIZOID OPSEC GUIDE | BECOME BULLETPROOF
Another good site but is currently invite only is Keybase.io which allows you to confirm someone else's PGP key, fingerprint, BTC address, social media accounts, etc. Keybase: https://keybase.io/. Source: about 1 year ago
  • Why is Pavol Rusnak's PGP PUBLIC KEY on keybase.io longer than on rusnak.io ?
Is one of them fake? The one on keybase.io is longer. The beginning part is the same but eventually it's different text. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Keybase PGP crytpo
Does anyone use keybase.io's crypto tool to decrypt and encrypt using PGP keys? Source: over 1 year ago
  • Keybase.pub https certificate expired
This breaks any proofs that are hosted on the Keybase FileSystem at https://keybase.io/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Open-source social media integrator for personal use?
Keybase does a good job at multi-platform identity validation, but it doesn't address the requirement for bridging platforms. Somebody else mentioned matrix for bridging, and that probably works for that purpose. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Promotion of alternative social platforms policy
Are you aware of Keybase? People use it exactly for that. [1] http://keybase.io. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Sharing secrets in a git repository using Keybase
What is Keybase? It is a social network where the profiles are associated with encryption keys. Those profiles can be verified using several integrations from a Twitter, Facebook or GitHub account to your bitcoin wallet. So you can use the public key of one of the profiles you follow to encrypt a letter or a file, and just that person can decrypt it. You can read more about it at https://keybase.io/. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
  • Secure E2E File Transfer Product Needed
I use keybase.io as it's easy to setup and has end to end encryption. Source: over 1 year ago
  • free-for.dev
KeybaseKeybase is a cool FOSS alternative to Slack, it keeps everyone's chats and files safe, from families to communities to companies. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
  • Twitodon: Finding Twitter Peers on Mastodon
Instead of creating a new service, it would be better if this read from https://keybase.io since those mappings already exist. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
  • Global Encryption Day: Demand End-to-End Encryption in DMs
IMhO, one company tacled that very problem head on and did a fantastic job and it's my by far prefered chat (+ more) app today. Ironically, that company, https://keybase.io, got acquired by Zoom. Keybase still works today (thankfully), but there are AFAIK no guarantees for how long. Keybase Chat is fully encrypted, persistent, and cross platform, and has the best solution to the identity problem. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago
