I think most of your problem is coming from using Rocky Linux, it is much easier to find support on Ubuntu derivatives for tools made by the community in general.   I'm running Linux. I could use input remapper to handle my in-game keybinds--it's what I use outside of games to handle desktop controls (so I can just keep my Win4 in controller mode)--but I find Steam Input to be easier to manage for gaming.   I use some strange layouts on vintage keyboards and don't always go though the trouble of converting them all to qmk. I found this project sezanzeb/input-remapper and used to use it from the AUR when I was on Arch.
