You can also use this search engine: https://ipfs-search.com. Source: about 2 years ago
Ipfs-search.com doesnt allow user submission, but you can use tools like public-gateway-cacher to increase the chances that their dht listener hears of it. Source: about 2 years ago
There's not any main search portal that I know of. I mean, there's this, https://github.com/ipfs-search/ipfs-search / https://ipfs-search.com/ Which afaik looks at the DHT traffic or similar. I'm not great at getting useful results from that, maybe you'll have better luck. r/IPFS_Hashes is a place for people to post things they're hosting. Source: over 2 years ago
There is already ipfs-search.com, which uses an open source byte analyzer to figure out what type of file it runs into. Source: over 2 years ago
There's https://ipfs-search.com/ that lets people search the DHT traffic they've seen from what I can tell. I'm not having great luck narrowing it down to .json files but maybe you'll figure something out. Source: over 2 years ago
IPFS though has a search engine, https://ipfs-search.com/#/, which seems to work pretty good. ENS (.eth, .sol, .luna), Unstoppable domains, handshake/namebase, IPFS websites, onion/i2p/zeronet/freenet/lokinet and others will need to get indexed and accessible by a search engine easily by a normal user. Until then, all of these trying to counter ICANN are pretty much useless. - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago
I didnt look into the wallet’s transactions yet, but I searched the NFT names on this IPFS search engine https://ipfs-search.com/ and it came up empty. I don’t know all the specifics of which NFTs end up on the ipfs but the dumb ones my little bro and I minted for curiosity on Solana were on there. I dont know if the search engine is comprehensive, but it’s something—another data point. Source: almost 3 years ago
There is in fact a search engine for IPFS: https://ipfs-search.com/#/search. Source: about 3 years ago
They dont need to know youre hosting files once they request that file they will find it through dht. Also your node shares the files it hosts which is how sites like https://ipfs-search.com/ discover content. If you want to share some hashes have a look at r/IPFS_Hashes. Source: over 3 years ago
AFAIK that does not exist. There are search sites like https://ipfs-search.com that scrape the IPFS DHT network & try to index what it can find - but that is definitely not decentralized. Source: over 3 years ago
Ipfs-search.com indexes the IPFS network by sniffing DHT traffic that goes through its indexing nodes. It is therefore possible to have DHT traffic for your pinned files missing those indexing nodes entirely. All in all, the more traffic your pinned files generate in the IPFS network the higher the chance they get indexed by ipfs-search.com. Source: over 3 years ago
