So I am currently trying to setup my own mail domain and have almost no clue. After some time I got across ionos.com where I can setup my custom domains. And I did find some domains I want to buy. But now I am uncertain, because if I get this payment right I will automatically get an e-mail box for ionos:. Source: almost 2 years ago
I've been using Ionos (ionos.com - mind the spelling) for professional and hobby stuff for years. Great product and service; wide variety of offerings from pre-installed to roll yer own. Not the least expensive and not the most, but I've found I genuinely get what I pay for. Source: over 2 years ago
You can buy domains for like a buck. Try ionos.com. You can also use railway.app and you get credit. It's pretty cheap after that. Try that or digitalocean first and if you like, get a domain name. But you only need a domain name for some use cases if you are just learning. Source: over 2 years ago
The first site I sold was made with the website builder included with a cheap hosting package from 1and1.com (note: I am not recommending/advocating for them, I don't know if they even exist anymore). Source: over 2 years ago
I use mail.ionos.com (formerly 1and1.com) as my email provider for my business accounts, which I then have gmail route to my personal inbox as an outside pop3 account. I also send mail from this pop3 account via my personal gmail (labeled as the pop3 account). Source: over 2 years ago
One odd, but inexpensive, solution is to make your own cloud. 1and1.com has a webhosting plan with unlimited space, unlimited traffic, and unlimited emails. I created a simple WordPress site. Then I used FileZilla to make subdirectories. I have copied tons of files that I absolutely cannot lose. I put files in various subdirectories, based on type and purpose and also included a PHP file in each directory... Source: almost 3 years ago
For further clarification I do not have shared hosting with name.com. I only have the domain name registered at name.com. I have shared hosting with ionos.com so I forward the url to ionos.com. The site hosted at ionos.com is a small business site where search indexing is critical. There was no problem with Google indexing the site. Source: almost 3 years ago
For now, I have already moved my domain and mailbox to ionos.com. Source: almost 3 years ago
Just for comparison, I pay about $200/year for my domain name and hosting through 1and1.com, and I don't have to deal with any of that weird Wix stuff. Source: over 3 years ago
My registrar is IONOS (formerly 1and1.com) and I can get enough email inboxes for my GSuite users for $2/month. For our situation, it seems like the path of least resistance is to take the No-Cost option for all our Photos/Drive needs and then just let a Gmail account handle the forward / new proper email account based on our @domainname.com addresses. This way, I don't have to try and explain to my scattered... Source: over 3 years ago
Yes.. For example, 1and1.com. Pretty sure their staff all had 1and1 email addresses. Source: over 4 years ago
IONOS, formerly known as 1&1 IONOS, holds a significant position in the hosting and cloud services market, particularly as a cost-effective and comprehensive provider for both individuals and businesses. Its offerings span across hosting, web hosting, domains, and cloud computing, making it a versatile choice for varied customer needs. Here's a concise look at public opinion about IONOS based on recent product mentions and contextual analysis.
IONOS is often cited for its affordable pricing and feature-rich plans, which cater to a diverse clientele, from individual hobbyists to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Notably, it stands out in several key areas:
Affordable Hosting Solutions: With shared WordPress hosting plans starting as low as $6 per month, including 10 GB of storage and a free SSL certificate, IONOS provides a compelling value proposition. This affordability extends to its VPS hosting, which is praised for being economically viable while maintaining a robust feature set.
Enterprise-Grade Options: The merging of 1&1 with ProfitBricks enabled IONOS to enhance its enterprise server offerings, reflecting a significant upgrade and appealing to a market seeking reliable yet economical dedicated and cloud server solutions.
Extensive Domain Services: IONOS is an established entity in domain management, catering to users who wish to set up custom domains, often at competitive prices.
Within its competitive landscape featuring industry stalwarts like GoDaddy, Bluehost, and DigitalOcean, IONOS is often positioned as a cost-effective alternative, especially for those seeking to economize on hosting without sacrificing essential features. Its expansive offerings make it a viable option for those transitioning from free services to paid plans, providing a stepping stone for growth-focused businesses.
Feedback regarding the customer experience and technical support provided by IONOS is mixed but trends positively. Users commend the breadth of its service offerings, highlighting the ability to integrate domains, emails, and hosting solutions seamlessly. The user feedback suggests that while not the absolute cheapest, the services deliver on value for money, supported by reliable performance and scalability.
However, there are occasional critiques related to technical support and the complexity of transitioning services, particularly from legacy systems like 1&1 email setups. This suggests an area for potential improvement in customer transition assistance and support responsiveness.
Overall, IONOS emerges as a competent, reliable player in the hosting and cloud services sector, particularly appreciated for its affordability, comprehensive service offerings, and focus on meeting the needs of SMEs. Its evolution from 1&1 to IONOS underscores an expanding capability to serve more complex and enterprise-grade demands. Despite its competitive pricing, it is not without rivals offering potentially superior customer service experiences, necessitating continual advancement in support and service processes to maintain and boost market standing.
