  • Endurain: Self-hosted Strava like service
I've been slowly moving towards https://intervals.icu/ which is kinda "open source" since its donation based. Way better than Strava. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • Endurain: Self-hosted Strava like service
A lot of my fun on hn is learning new stuff. I often have to searchx various things - just because I didn't know about them previously. It's the same on reddit, even on topics I (supposedly) know about and follow. Nb - if you're into sports and fitness tracking, take a look at http://intervals.icu - great for fitness, but also a geeks dream. - Source: Hacker News / 4 months ago
  • FR 965 for cycling and running
I use other tools for my cycling fitness planning, eg. intervals.icu (free) or Xert (paid). Funninly on Xert I have the opposite issue, it is great with my cycling, but uploading my 965 running activities makes a mess of tireness and form calculations. Source: 5 months ago
  • I recently switched to TrainerDay, but I miss TrainerRoad :(
Note that Trainerroad probably is still more advanced in some ways with adaptive training and other stuff. My issue with trainerroad is that to get full benefit you have to pay a higher price and do stuff inside of trainerroad (I hate working out just looking at a chart). So for adaptive training I use Xert, easier to export workouts to apps like Zwift and the ride analysis is the same regardless of where you do... Source: 5 months ago
  • Trainerroad Outside Rides Only
I was a little bummed about the AI FTP not working in my situation. I think I'm still going to give it a whirl and I'll just have to test my FTP. I've been using intervals.icu to track rides so I will probably keep doing that and we'll see how my estimated FTP on there tracks my FTB test results. Source: 5 months ago
  • Did I "bonk" or just wear down? And how to I fix it?
Do you use any analysis software/platorm to look at how deep you went? I use intervals.icu or Xert (paid) which will tell me how hard I went. With Intervals.icu you can get your w'bal/prime number which will show 'how far into the red' you were.... Obviously if you hit zero then you have nothing left. I often see in ZRL races (like the first race this season), I stayed with the lead group over the first climb,... Source: 5 months ago
  • TrainingPeaks experience
I use TP as a coached athlete. Had Premium but I don't really look at analytics much (that's what the coach is for) and I use intervals.icu when I do care, so I didn't renew. Source: 5 months ago
  • TrainingPeaks experience
The cycling metrics can be overwhelming, I confess. But honestly, the product isn't excellent. Nothing is intuitive. The product isn't user centric. For example, intervals.icu isn't beautiful but at least it's intuitive (ok some part can be complex to handle but it's nothing compared to TP). Source: 5 months ago
  • Version 2.5.0 released!
    — Integration with Intervals.icu is here! Plan, track, and analyze your workouts with ease. Source: 6 months ago
  • Ask HN: What are the best services without apps?
I recommend https://intervals.icu for everything sport related. - Source: Hacker News / 7 months ago
  • Baystate Marathon Race Report: A "BQ" and a 40 minute PR
I used Pfitzinger's Advanced Marathoning to build a plan and followed it pretty religiously. I combined it with Intervals.icu, which for my money is one of the best running related websites out there. Seriously, check it out. It gives you everything that Strava Premium does, but for free, plus a lot more. And if you choose to support it (which you should, it's awesome), it's significantly cheaper than most... • Race Report: Apple Watch Ultra 1 Performance During a 70.3 Triathlon
Major caveat: the distance and pace for the swim are not visible in the Fitness app despite the presence of mapping data. It says "0YD" and "0'00"/100yd" under the Open Water Swim activity. When you click into it, you see a map with the course correctly tracked. If I look at the swim in HealthFit or exported into intervals.icu and Strava, the distance displays correctly. Annoying and weird. This has not happened... Source: 7 months ago
  • First successful 100km XCM race
I gradually increased my training load as much as my body could take. I tried to keep my form between -10% to -30% by following it on intervals.icu. I added long and hard MTB trainings after shorter races to get my body accustomed to the higher load. I did at least one 5h+ ride a week. Towards the end of the block I started to feel fatigued so I made sure that my taper was sufficient.Last week before the 2 week... Source: 8 months ago
  • Sprint/plyo-heavy cross training during marathon block
The issue is that I play two other sports each week, neither of which is very conducive to marathon training. On Wednesdays I play center field for a softball team. I also play tennis with two friends once a week for 1.5-2 hours (usually Fridays or a weekend day). Until all this recent running business, these had been my main hobbies/social outlets for years. I don't want to cut them out, even though I know... Source: 9 months ago
  • Am I ready for racing CAT 5?
Looking at my power profiles on https://intervals.icu/, I can see that my Watt/KG is pretty trash, but when I look at the same set of data by raw wattage the numbers hurt my feelings a little bit less. I know there is a bit of a dropoff between 5 minute and beyond, I live in a busy city and it's hard to get more than 5 minutes uninterrupted by people, cars, dogs etc. My rides tend to be punchy because of this. I... Source: 10 months ago
  • What happens when you "just ride a lot"
My FTP (not tested, but estimated by Garmin, intervals.icu) has been about the same for a year. (about 270W). Source: 10 months ago
  • What are my realistic expectations as a middle-aged beginner cyclist?
I recently started using https://intervals.icu/ if you haven't checked that out. I'm not sure how to read and analyze everything yet but thanks for posting your best 5/15 seconds as it made me look on there for some data. Source: 10 months ago
  • How do you test & make workouts for shorter power durations?
Intervals.icu will model your Power/Duration curve from a few max/best-efforts, interpolating your theoretical max power for durations you haven't tested. Then you could aim for that power (or a bit less, for repeatability). On top of that, it lets you set absolute, as opposed to %, power targets for workouts. If I understand your question correctly, together these should do what you need! Source: 10 months ago
  • Elemnt Rival Feature Suggestions
I wouldn't say Strava is neutral exactly, they're out to make money. When they refused to increase things for intervals.icu temporarily I personally decided to reduce any dependency on them and treat them more as a social platform instead. Wahoo and Garmin feed directly into the training app I use (JOIN) for example, not going through Strava any longer. Source: 10 months ago
  • Thoughts after the free 1 month premium on Strava
Https://intervals.icu is so much better than Strava for actual ride/workout analysis. I cancelled my Strava subscription and now pay the very low fee for intervals.icu - though I think you can actually do it for free (I might be confusing that with Trainer Day). Source: 10 months ago
  • Thoughts after the free 1 month premium on Strava
I'm still using the free version, because it's incredibly useful and syncs well with other services I use like intervals.icu and wandrer.earth but I just don't see the point the paid version for me these days. Source: 10 months ago
