Anonymity
I2P is designed to provide significant anonymity for users by routing communications through a volunteer-run network of globally distributed routers.
Peer-to-Peer Architecture
I2P doesn't rely on centralized servers, reducing single points of failure and enhancing its resilience to attacks and censorship.
Layered Encryption
Messages sent through I2P are encrypted in multiple layers (using garlic routing), which enhances security and makes tracking the data source harder.
Uncensorable
Due to its decentralized and anonymous nature, I2P can be used to bypass censorship and provide access to information in restrictive environments.
Versatile Applications
Supports a variety of applications such as anonymous web browsing, chatting, file-sharing, and email, making it a versatile tool for privacy-focused users.
Overall, I2P is considered a good option for achieving a higher degree of online privacy. Its decentralized architecture and use of encryption are effective in obscuring both the user's location and the content being communicated. However, it may not be as user-friendly or as widely used as similar solutions like Tor, and might require a bit more technical understanding to use effectively.
We have collected here some useful links to help you find out if I2P is good.
Check the traffic stats of I2P on SimilarWeb. The key metrics to look for are: monthly visits, average visit duration, pages per visit, and traffic by country. Moreoever, check the traffic sources. For example "Direct" traffic is a good sign.
Check the "Domain Rating" of I2P on Ahrefs. The domain rating is a measure of the strength of a website's backlink profile on a scale from 0 to 100. It shows the strength of I2P's backlink profile compared to the other websites. In most cases a domain rating of 60+ is considered good and 70+ is considered very good.
Check the "Domain Authority" of I2P on MOZ. A website's domain authority (DA) is a search engine ranking score that predicts how well a website will rank on search engine result pages (SERPs). It is based on a 100-point logarithmic scale, with higher scores corresponding to a greater likelihood of ranking. This is another useful metric to check if a website is good.

They probably got harassed and don't have the man power to act. Great moment to give I2P https://geti2p.net/en/ a look as a viable alternative for torrents. Some clients already support both systems. Source: over 2 years ago

Aside from being very secure, it will also be much faster than Tor overall. The best way to explain I2P is as a internet within an internet. One thing to mention is I2P does not hide the fact you are using the service at all. If you don't like Tor for some reason, this is another option to check out. I2P Link: https://geti2p.net/en/. If you really want to go down that route, I2P is probably your best bet these days. https://geti2p.net/en/. Source: over 2 years ago
That being said, Tor is insufficient and acknowledges that fact itself. To protect against that sort of problem, mixnets & cover traffic are required as a starting point (additional mitigations against timing analysis are also possible and desirable). For now, the more mature option currently usable is I2P, which welcomes contributions to help make it safer & better. Source: over 2 years ago
My suggestion is use [I2P.](https://geti2p.net/en/) I haven't tried it out yet but it's kinda free torrent but you're always also helping other people on the network. It's nice. Source: over 2 years ago

2 ways to access darknet. Tor onion network and the I2P network. Use the darknet bible to learn about Tor and https://geti2p.net/en/ to learn about I2P. Definitely read the darknet bible no matter which method you use. Once set up you need to find a market, pick a product/ vendor, load XMR onto your market wallet, then pay the vendor through that. Try multiple times please. Maybe your network speed is a problem too. Also can you use Psiphon3 in Iran? If that can connect to the network, use that as your proxy for your Tor browser. I suggest using socks proxy mode plus Tor bridges. Address 127.0.0.1 port: as shown on Psiphon3 . Proxy type please choose Socks5. Good luck. Use Gmail to send an email at get@psiphon3.com Or download it directly from this website... Source: almost 3 years ago
Now is a good time to get familiar with i2p (a fully encrypted private network layer) and all of the pirating possibilities it offers. Torrenting with i2psnark and direct p2p sharing with MuWire is already there. Several torrent clients have/are adding i2p compatibility as well, so snark isn't the only option. Hosting your own site on your own pc is incredibly simple too. Source: almost 3 years ago

Perhaps it was the Invisible Internet Project? Or if you can find a torrent download for TAILS (The Amnesiac Internet Linux System), which contains TOR as part of the system image, you can use that. TAILS is a whole live CD that's not meant for installation, though. Source: about 3 years ago
I2P, short for the Invisible Internet Project, is an anonymous network layer that provides robust privacy protections for internet communications. Unlike traditional web browsers, I2P functions as an overlay network, creating a private internet within the public internet. This unique architecture allows users to maintain anonymity while engaging in online activities such as browsing, file sharing, and communication.
One of the key selling points of I2P is its strong focus on security and privacy. Users frequently highlight its efficacy as a tool for reliable anonymity, often comparing it to other privacy-centric networks like Tor, Freenet, and ZeroNet. The consensus suggests that I2P provides greater speed and a different approach to privacy than Tor, although it does not conceal the fact that a user is employing the I2P service. This trade-off appears acceptable to many who prioritize the secure exchange of data over complete invisibility.
The usability of I2P is a mixed bag for the public, with mention of its integration with web browsers, which fosters a secure browsing environment. Users note the relatively involved setup process, including the need to download drivers and configure specific settings. Yet, comprehensive guides available on the official website have been well-received, helping new users navigate the setup and usage.
Concerns about expired SSL certificates on official download platforms have been flagged, affecting accessibility and potentially deterring new users. The lapse in SSL certification highlights an area in need of improvement, as continuous accessibility is critical for maintaining trust and convenience.
I2P is frequently mentioned as a viable alternative for activities traditionally facilitated by the Tor network, especially in regions facing internet censorship. It is praised for supporting decentralized, peer-to-peer applications such as torrenting, with some users noting that services like RARBG are already integrating I2P alongside traditional systems. Tools like i2psnark for torrenting and MuWire for direct peer-to-peer sharing are mentioned as strengths, signifying I2P's expanding ecosystem.
Within online anonymity communities, I2P enjoys a favorable reputation, often recommended for those seeking more robust privacy protection. Feedback on platforms like Reddit underscores its maturity as an option for privacy-seeking users and potential contributorsโthe latter being necessary to enhance safety and anonymity further. The communityโs advocacy indicates a level of trust in the project's continued evolution and improvement.
In conclusion, I2P is perceived as a powerful yet somewhat niche tool for privacy-conscious internet users. While its installation process and occasional technical hiccups, such as expired SSL certificates, might pose barriers to entry, the strengths in encryption and network robustness make it a compelling choice in specific contexts. Its ability to serve as a reliable alternative to other anonymity networks further strengthens its position within the market, especially for users committed to privacy and decentralized communication.
