Houndtrust is a web-based business workspace for independent pet sitters, home boarders, dog walkers, and drop-in providers who manage their own clients.
Send one reusable intake link to collect owner and pet details, care requests, an e-signed liability waiver, and emergency-vet authorization. Approved requests flow into a booking calendar alongside availability, client and pet records, private care notes, and automated email reminders.
During care, providers can send daily photo updates and shareable client recaps. Pip, Houndtrust's generative-AI assistant, turns brief factual notes into a warm client update for the provider to review before sending. Stay Cards create a shareable visual recap for the owner.
The money dashboard tracks booked, earned, owed, and paid amounts, with exports for recordkeeping. Payment requests point clients to the provider's own Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, Stripe, or other payment link. Houndtrust does not process or hold the booking money.
Houndtrust runs in a phone or desktop browser; clients use secure links and do not need to install an app. Calendar import and subscription work through standard iCal feeds with services including Google Calendar, iCloud, and Microsoft Outlook.
Free covers clients and pets, services and rates, and the price calculator. Solo is $24/month at the current founding price for the first 300 professionals, with a $49/month regular price for later cohorts. Solo includes unlimited clients and bookings, intake links, calendar, e-sign paperwork, money tools, Pip AI, branding, and reminders. Start with a seven-day full-access trial; no card is required.

Houndtrust is built around the independent provider's own client list, not a marketplace relationship. One reusable link connects client intake, e-sign paperwork, the booking calendar, reminders, care updates, GPS walk maps, and money tracking. Clients never need an app, and payment requests point to the provider's own methods, so Houndtrust does not hold booking funds or take a commission on clients the provider brings. Pip AI drafts updates from factual notes, but the provider reviews every update before sending.
Choose Houndtrust if you already have, or are building, your own client base and want one simple system instead of a percentage-based marketplace. It combines intake, signed waivers, bookings, reminders, client updates, and money records in a browser-based workspace built for solo and small pet-care businesses. Clients use secure links instead of downloading an app, and they pay through the provider's own payment methods. The Free plan covers setup; Solo adds the full workflow for a flat monthly price. If your main need is marketplace discovery of new clients, a marketplace can still serve that separate purpose.
Houndtrust is primarily for solo and small independent pet-care professionals who manage their own client relationships: home dog boarders, pet sitters, dog walkers, and drop-in providers. It is especially useful for an operator moving beyond text threads, paper forms, spreadsheets, or marketplace-only bookings but who does not need enterprise staffing, payroll, or multi-location kennel software.
Founder David Van Wagoner built Houndtrust from the day-to-day problems he and his wife encountered while running Waggins Dog Care, their home-boarding business in Salt Lake City. After six years of managing bookings, waivers, pet details, calendar changes, client updates, and marketplace fees, the repeated work was clear: independent providers needed one tool for the clients they already serve. Houndtrust began in 2026 as that operator-built workspace, with the goal of reducing paperwork while keeping the provider in control of the client relationship and booking money.
Houndtrust is built with TypeScript, Next.js 16, React 19, and Tailwind CSS. Supabase provides the PostgreSQL database, authentication, and server-side data layer. Stripe supports Houndtrust subscription billing. Pip uses Anthropic's API for provider-reviewed AI drafting. Leaflet and OpenStreetMap-compatible tiles power walk maps, while PostHog and Sentry support privacy-filtered product analytics and error monitoring. The web application is deployed through Netlify.
