  • What can I do with songs I’ve written?
This Hookpad tool lets you do that. You can type in notes and syllables. The app will sync your syllables with the notes. Click "PLay" and you've got a song. It can even add backing instruments. The site also teaches theory so you could learn about things such as chords. When you do that, instead of simply adding (lyrics + notes), you can add (lyrics + notes + chords). And again when you click "Play," the app... Source: 12 months ago
  • How do i transcribe?
As you do this more and more, you'll slowly start to be able to pick up longer phrases at once instead of single notes. Be sure to check back frequently against the playback!! Every couple of notes or so if not every note you add. This is made easier in certain tools like https://www.soundslice.com/ which combines transcription playback and notation tools into one interface. I think you can add a youtube link in... • do you compose with your instrument or completely pen to paper?
Depends on what I'm writing. If it's a rock song, it's going to be written by physically playing my guitar. If it's something orchestral or electronic or whatever, I'll probably go straight to either my DAW or notation software, depending - something that can give me instant playback! It's not as immediate and physical as working with my instrument, but it lets me write for instruments I don't play or own. And... Source: over 1 year ago
  • Creating music without MIDI instruments/instruments in a DAW? (for now)
If you have a vocal melody and lyrics in mind, you can see what it might sound like at least by using your computer keyboard and mouse drag and drop at https://hookpad.hooktheory.com/. There you can quickly type syllables and notes into a grid. Then click "Band" and the site will generate an instrumental accompaniment. Source: over 1 year ago
  • (Collab/question) Ive written a lot of lyrics for songs but need help bringing them to life with music
You can also see what happens if you type syllables into https://hookpad.hooktheory.com/. Source: over 1 year ago
  • Program for experimenting
You can try Hookpad from hooktheory: https://hookpad.hooktheory.com/ Which is focused on exactly what you want. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • [Resource] Best databases/software for finding keys. Pro tip: It's not Tunebat or Spotify.
What I would then do is plug in the chords into Hookpad, which can then tell you which chords belong to a specific key or mode as you're adding them in. Source: almost 2 years ago
  • Best Resources to Write Songs if You’re Not a Guitar Player?
Maybe check out the book "The Songwriter's Workshop: Harmony" by Jimmy Kachulis and the site https://hookpad.hooktheory.com. Source: over 2 years ago
  • I’m having issues with getting out the melodies of songs I’m writing...
Use your computer keyboard to tap out your melody at https://hookpad.hooktheory.com/. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Creating a program to suggest chords
For inspiration, may I suggest taking a look at Hookpad? They get a lot of it right, although it feels clunky at times, being a web app. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Any free chord progression generator plugin like scaler 2?
You could try https://hookpad.hooktheory.com/ It may help you out. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Struggling to find a decent software for songwriting?
You might also play around with HookPad. It lets you write music, chords and syllables. It automatically adds syllables to beats as you input the syllables. If you can find the "Band" button, you can hear a fairly decent accompaniment of your creation. It's free but there are some benefits to upgrading. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Post Mur - Dream
I use this site (free) for making melody and chords https://hookpad.hooktheory.com/. Source: about 3 years ago
