My HN css doesn't even display usernames. I don't find discussions acrimonious/flame war. But feel free not to engage, I'm not out to make your life difficult/less enjoyable on a weekend. Anyway There's a mute feature here. https://github.com/insin/comments-owl-for-hacker-news/ But you posted this article, I have opinion, which is not directed... - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

Comments Owl for Hacker News [1] adds a mute button to comments and user profiles which lets you do this. If you want to roll a quick version of your own, once you've identified rows containing comments you want to block, you need to hide all subsequent rows which have a higher indent. I see there's now an "indent" attribute in the DOM which would make this even easier. [1] - Source: Hacker News / about 2 years ago
Definitely not perfect. The default "collapse comment" buttons being right-aligned is pure insanity, IMO. They should be left-aligned so they're all in line with each other as you scroll down the page, so you barely have to move your mouse. Fortunately this extension[1] takes care of that. I use a plugin that shows new comment counts since my last visit and that highlights new comments[0]. HN is beta testing a similar feature. I'd encourage them to add the new comment count as well if they haven't. [0]https://github.com/insin/hn-comments-owl. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
