The thing is, I have this string I got from a response's payload, and I am trying to understand what it is. I have tried decoding with utf-8 and no luck. With latin-1 I get gibberish, which made me think it was a binary file. But I got no luck getting the extension from it, and I don't really know how to read hexadecimal (I got the raw bytes and pasted it in https://hexed.it/). Any tips on how to continue? Open the stormworks64.exe with any hexeditor you like (i recommend hexed.it ) and search for the value: 76561197976988654 (it should land on "EE") which is Deltars SteamID. Replace that with your own id, which you can find by clicking your profile in the topright corner of Steam. Source: about 3 years ago

First, get some sort of hex-editing tool (this allows you to view a file's binary data in a more convenient format). You can either download one or use a website, I've recovered several projects using the one over at https://hexed.it/. Source: about 3 years ago
Open the torrent file in a hex editor (Like this one: https://hexed.it ) and you'll find that the first 4 characters are 0A. Delete those characters and save as a new file. It should work now. Source: about 3 years ago

I've been stuck on level of ae27ff for quite a while. I've seen the hint and I've managed to figure out that the magic number of a jpeg is FFD8, and I've uploaded the image to the https://hexed.it website. Now I'm stuck. Can anyone give me a hint on how to process? Source: over 3 years ago
4.After resizing the GIF,save it, navigate to https://hexed.it/ and click on the top-left corner to open the GIF file. Then, drag the program code down to the very last line. Source: over 3 years ago
Another option is to use a hex viewer - https://hexed.it/ - and search for the pattern of the name. For instance, if I drop ROM1A.syx in there, I can search for the name "BRASS" and it'll highlight the patches. That is a pretty quick way to find things in sysex. Source: over 3 years ago
Unfortunately I can't share the test file because it's an invalid jpg (it doesn't have any of the required jpg headers and stuff) so any file sharing service like dropbox thinks its a virus lol. It has to be a jpg because a txt behaves differently than jpg does. But you can really quickly make the exact same file using an online hex editor like https://hexed.it/. Source: over 3 years ago

The process failed to stop but the defrag did. This happens at stage 6 commonly. Just click Stop. If the fragment is not at 0 there is something wrong with your PC or a malware is force stopping it from defragmenting the parts that are scattered in the drive. Check weirdly large files that you don't know of. Put them into hexed.it and if you see a ton of 00's in a line for more than 10 lines remove it. it's... Source: over 3 years ago
Copy that file. Now you need to open that file in a hex editor. Notepad++ with the right plugins will work, but if you dont want to download anything then you can use https://hexed.it/ I opened mine there and it worked for me. Open that file or a copy of it in there. Delete the first 18 characters. For some reason the gamepass saves have an extra 18 there that the steam ones do not. Once those are deleted, export... I've tried to do some sleuthing on my own: I tried changing the file extensions to 'popular' ones (e.g. jpg) but that didn't really turn anything up; And I've opened both files (a supposed .docx and supposed .mp3) using a hex viewing website (hexed.it) and the signature doesn't match .docx or .mp3 files. The mp3 has: "76 F5 88 E1 2D 13 47 77 ..." and the .docx has "29 D2 AA 00 17 E1 41 7C.". Source: over 3 years ago
Try text editing both of them. I reccomend hexed.it. You can drop the images in. Sometimes people like to hide messages behind the images. Source: over 3 years ago
