Self hosted Gitlab instance is an option. The only cost is hosting (personally I am using hetzner.com CPX31 instance, 16€ for 160GB a month but you can add 1TB volume for 45€ a month if you need more space). Just keep in mind that Gitlab needs about 8GB RAM to work correctly (it crashes on 2 and is only kinda stable on 4). You can also use an older computer or a NAS if you prefer to go that route. Personally, I use hetzner.com's dedicated line, so I rent a full piece of physical server hardware. AmazonAWS is gross. Source: over 1 year ago
Hetzner is awesome and they allow you to sign a data protection agreement contract. Source: over 1 year ago
I went ahead and purchased the domain dnsfun.dev from my registrar for 19.99€, and I purchased a VPS from my cloud provider for about 4.50€ per month. I then logged in to that VPS and ran something like this:. - Source: dev.to / over 1 year ago
We've just finished moving servers from AWS to https://hetzner.com - and saved 10X with servers of double the capability. A great experience so far. - Source: Hacker News / over 1 year ago

I've noticed this bug multiple times, most recently when logging in to hetzner.com German dashboard. Source: over 1 year ago
Linode is quite expensive compared to others. I'd personally recommend contabo or hetzner. With any VPS, you need Linux experience anyway. Source: over 1 year ago
If your website is of high value-high importance, then I will go further in setting up a server with a major provider (Usually Hetzner - https://hetzner.com ). Source: over 1 year ago
I'd recommend against using a web host for dedi and vps, because that's not what they specialize in. One of the best providers in my opinion are Hetzner, they provide very cheap VPS if you are okay with the short DC list. Otherwise, I'd recommend Vultr or Linode. Source: almost 2 years ago
Would recommend hetzner.com and installing cPanel from cpanel.net, but if you can't be bothered to do that, Krystal offers has VPS bundled with cPanel (i'd recommend this config: 2 cores, 3gb ram, 25gb ssd, almalinux 8, cPanel admin cloud (not sure if they install for you)). Hetzner.com and contabo.com are cheap, both based in and have data centres in Germany. Source: almost 2 years ago
Hetzner is a cheaper solution, and they now have US locations. Source: almost 2 years ago
Personally, I use Hetzner (https://hetzner.com) they already include tax in their pricing so the listed prices are exactly what you'll pay. Source: almost 2 years ago
Use VPS, don't use shared web hosting when you generate content as it tends to use lots of resources like RAM, CPU %, and storage. I'd recommend hetzner.com, contabo.com, or linode.com. Source: about 2 years ago
Second option will be using https://hetzner.com/cloud and you can get more juice for less money than AWS offers. Source: about 2 years ago
After trying multiple providers, I fell in love with a lesser known one named hetzner: hetzner.com. When you have an issue, any type of issue, and you give them a ring: you'll be immediately connected with actual engineers (and not the typical firstline helpdesk person whos reading a script that they themselves don't even understand). Examples of this is when I wanted to attach a SAN/NAS to one of my VPS... Source: about 2 years ago
Recently switched to Contabo from Hetzner because of their very competitive pricing. I do recomend it! Source: about 2 years ago
Https://linode.com and https://hetzner.com (herzner is cheaper) are both good and cheaper than azure. Source: about 2 years ago
Hetzner.com recently discovered from a LTT video. Amazed by the prices. Source: about 2 years ago

I've moved some of my servers from Linode to Hetzner, and I'm very happy so far. Similar UX. Cheaper and better performing VPS servers.
