As an option you can use Here WeGo - https://wego.here.com (mobile app is also available), they have bus routes with schedules and even show when it's delayed (if the bus is equipped with such system, at least in Limassol older buses do not have it). Source: about 2 years ago

Agreed, but you are going to get feedback from a lot of folks who apparently really like it. The native navigation comes from a system called HERE and they have deals with a large number of vehicle OEMs. For my situation the native maps are abysmal. The POI database is sparsely populated for my area of the country and it rarely identifies the correct destination unless I enter the specific street address. Worse,... Source: over 2 years ago
I'm using European-based maps. Not ideal but better. Here we go (wego.here.com) is really great. viamichelin.fr is also quite good (but not as good). Source: over 2 years ago
I also had some success with HERE maps: https://wego.here.com Their Android app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.here.app.maps Their Apple app: https://apps.apple.com/app/id955837609 The performance is good (especially on a budget Android device, better than the recent versions of Google Maps, even), they're reasonably accurate and include navigation, traffic information, public transportation,... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

The quality of Google Map is better than others because it has more users, and thus better input data. And that's the real problem - competitors cannot improve improve their product without better data, and so users avoid their product / service and turn back to Google Maps (which allows Google to improve their product further and take a lead). Note though that Google has another edge over its competitors -... - Source: Hacker News / almost 3 years ago

Https://wego.here.com/ opens on the default location based on my IP. If I move (swipe) on the map to another location, it immediately jumps back to the default location. When you click through to buy the update, is it coming from a company called HERE Technologies? If so, they have apps and a Google Maps type site at https://wego.here.com, so you could look there and check out the map there to see if the new highway numbers are there. Chances are, if the new highway numbers are shown in the app, the update CD you would be ordering probably contains them as well. Source: over 3 years ago

HERE WeGo is a great alternative to Google Maps. It works on Android, iOS, and web. (The app store ratings for HERE WeGo are a bit low because they recently rewrote the app and the first few versions were unstable. The rewrite added lane guidance, which is a very useful feature to have for driving directions.) - HERE WeGo (web): https://wego.here.com - HERE WeGo (Android):... - Source: Hacker News / almost 4 years ago

Here maps is a great alternative to Google and Apple maps - even allows you to download the map data for offline use. Here WeGo - https://wego.here.com/. - Source: Hacker News / about 4 years ago
HERE WeGo garners varied opinions from both technical experts and general users within the mapping services domain, suggesting a noteworthy standing amidst a fiercely competitive market. Positioned as a direct alternative to platforms like Google Maps, Apple Maps, and OpenStreetMap, HERE WeGo is part of a crowded ecosystem, yet it maintains a clear distinction through particular features and strategic partnerships.
User Interface and Navigation: HERE WeGo receives commendation for its straightforward and user-friendly interface, making it particularly appealing to a broad range of users. Its intuitive design facilitates ease of use, which is noted as a prominent advantage over some competitors.
Comprehensive Routing Options: The platform provides detailed routing, including turn-by-turn navigation, public transportation information, and alternative route suggestions informed by real-time data inputs like police reports and construction news. This aspect is particularly emphasized in discussions as a strong point, offering an edge over other navigation tools.
Global Reach and Accessibility: Accessible in over 200 countries, HERE WeGo maintains a strong global presence, which is frequently mentioned. Its extensive reach, coupled with offline map capabilities, ensures usability even in regions with limited connectivity โ a unique attribute that serves travelers and users in remote areas.
Offline Functionality: The platformโs ability to store vast map data offline, including entire continents, is particularly praised. This offers significant utility for users with limited internet access and those looking to reduce data usage, making it a preferred option for long-distance travelers.
Automotive Industry Integration: With established partnerships with automotive giants such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW, HERE WeGo finds its niche in in-car navigation systems. This integration underscores its reliability and importance within certain segments of the user base.
Data Input and POI Database: Despite its strengths, some users express concerns regarding data input quality, specifically within its Points of Interest (POI) database. Inconsistencies and gaps in this area, particularly in less populated regions, occasionally hinder user experience.
Competitor Comparison: While HERE WeGo competes closely with Google Maps in various aspects, the vast data collected by Google gives it an apparent edge in terms of accuracy and user base. Users often note HEREโs lag in certain functionalities or up-to-date artifacts that rely heavily on user input, a factor Google can better leverage with its broader platform integration.
Technical Performance and Recent Updates: The recent app rewrites aimed at enhancing user experience have been met with mixed reviews. Early instability challenges have been noted, though features like lane guidance are appreciated when stable.
Overall, HERE WeGo is respected for its solid foundational features and robust offline capabilities. While it stands out with distinct features and reliability for vehicle navigation, certain data quality aspects and technical consistency require continued focus and enhancement. As part of a dynamic and competitive sector, its ability to adapt and address these areas will determine its rising or waning presence against robust competitors like Google and Apple Maps.
