Hackyard was started in 2026 by Hixon, a solo builder who wanted a hackathon that fits one person and one week: no teams, no pitch decks, no judges. The first Yard ran in August 2026, and Yards now run twice a month, with themes like No accounts, Backlog, and One Screen.
Next.js and TypeScript on Vercel, Supabase for the database, auth, and storage, and Brevo for email. Each build's share card is generated on the fly with Vercel's OG image renderer.
