First of all, you will need some sort of PGP encryption suite whether you are on Mac or Windows. I use Windows, so I utilize the Kleopatra PGP client in GPG4Win. You said you have a mac, so if you haven't already, grab GPG Suite. It will help a lot with just using GPG in general. It includes a tool called "GPG Keychain" that will show and help manage your keys, and has an "Export" button that will help you back the keys up -- just remember to check the box to include the secret key. For anyone publishing on Maven Central, I would suggest using an app from https://www.openpgp.org/software/ like the excellent https://gpgtools.org/ to manage keys and automatically sync your keys to the key servers you want.
