This looks really nice. I'm reminded of a desktop app Google has called "Google Web Designer" which can do similar timeline based animations and exports to the same formats. But it's nice being able to do in the browser without downloading an app. However, Web Designer is free so there's that. Also, who knows how long Google will continue to support this app. https://webdesigner.withgoogle.com/. - Source: Hacker News / over 3 years ago
I don't think .FLA files are compatible with any other software. Flash was originally its own product produced by Macromedia before adobe bought them out. There is only one other product that I know of that you can use a canvas to create animations and that is Google WebDesigner. I'm not sure if you can import FLA though. Source: over 3 years ago

Google Web Designer, a free and professional-grade HTML5 authoring tool, stands out in the realm of web design software for its ability to build interactive and animated HTML5 content without requiring any coding expertise. It caters to both novices and experienced designers by offering a robust suite of advanced drawing tools that enable the creation and animation of vector graphics with customizable attributes such as color, gradient, line style, line thickness, and opacity.
Overall, the public perception of Google Web Designer is quite favorable, particularly among users seeking an alternative to more expensive solutions like Adobe Animate. Many users appreciate its cost-effective nature, especially given its cost-free status, aligning closely with its direct competition, which includes other prominent names such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Nova Code Editor, and WordPress. A recurring sentiment is Google Web Designer's robustness and versatility, which allow it to offer features comparable to paid alternatives, making it an excellent choice for those building HTML5 ads and other web-based animations.
A notable point of discussion among users is Google Web Designer's capacity to export Lottie animations, a popular format for vector-based animations. Despite being a desktop application, its ability to provide a feature-rich timeline and animation tools draws a favorable comparison to browser-based counterparts like Construct Animate. However, concerns arise about Google's long-term support for the application, a common anxiety with many of Google's free services that occasionally face discontinuation.
The platform frequently receives attention in discussions around alternatives to Adobe Animate, especially for users managing animations without native FLA file compatibility. Users often commend its incorporation of Dreamweaver-like features and pre-installed templates, which streamline the creation of rich media advertisements and other interactive designs.
Several references highlight Google Web Designer's suitability for creating motion graphics and animations in HTML5, with enthusiastic mentions of its compatibility with various operating systems, including Windows, Mac, and Linux. While its primary goal is HTML5 ad creation, it also finds adoption in broader creative projects, benefiting from the versatility and export options it provides. Users have reported utilizing Google Web Designer's outputs with additional tools or techniques, such as screen recording, to further adapt their designs beyond its native capabilities.
In conclusion, Google Web Designer holds a solid footing as a comprehensive and free tool within the web design industry. It provides powerful animation and design capabilities suitable for both amateur and seasoned designers alike. However, potential users are advised to consider the uncertainty about long-term support and the specific requirements of their projects, particularly concerning animation file compatibility.
