• Need help finding breeder

  We went through gooddog.com to find our pup (cavapoochon) which we will be bringing home May 23rd! We had a really good experience with the website, they screen the breeders and follow up on your experience etc. The breeder we are going with found on the site is awesome. She constantly gives us updates via pictures and is even willing to meet us halfway to pick our pup up. Source: over 2 years ago

• Sketchy breeder didn't provide transfer of ownership for chip information

  I bought my puppy from a breeder I didn't realize was kind of sketchy. She promised me papers and parents DNA info on pickup but "suddenly realized the sire didn't have the DNA registered with AKC". It's been 6mo since we got her and shes now ignoring me on gooddog.com. She says she chipped all the puppies with her own information but still hasn't provided a transfer of ownership. Source: over 2 years ago

  Are the online puppy markets legit such as the puppies.com, gooddog.com or puppyfinder.com? I'd prefer to go through a breeder with a good reputation and hesitant to use one of the sites where it might be a puppymill or not the best of lines. Source: over 2 years ago

  However, I did a comparison check from this website back to the bmdca.org for the breeder name and info, and added another page or 2 into my search as well - which had me land on the gooddog.com website for Thlassa Bernese Mtn. • Dog breeder doesn't want me to meet the puppy prior to 8 weeks when I purchase

  I am have been looking to buy a corgi puppy and found a local breeder on gooddog.com. Good Dog claims the breeder is reputable and has been vetted - and all payments will go through that website.   You shouldn't look on craigslist or anywhere that could be puppy mill activity. You should find a reputable local breeder through the AKC or gooddog.com and get on their waitlist. If they don't have a waitlist, they're likely not a breeder you want to go with. Buying a puppy mill schnauzer is harmful for the breed and overall just a bad idea - we have friends who were impatient and got a puppy mill schnauzer... Source: almost 4 years ago

  I assume things will get a bit better in fall/winter. So I'm not sure what to advice you but I would personally wait a bit. I'm not sure where you are but look also on gooddog.com It's a site that pre vets breeders.   Check out gooddog.com. You certainly need to continue to vet the breeders and decide what you are personally comfortable with, but they have performed some very preliminary screening of breeders and do emphasize health testing (although many breeders there may still perform less health testing than you are comfortable with).   I've been looking for a while. Before I knew any better I had engaged with a few breeders from puppyfind.com but after doing some more reading I realized that is not the best place to look. So I've since been mainly looking on gooddog.com or directly from the AKC website. It has not been easy lol. Most reputable breeders I like have years long waiting lists, or I won't get a response.
