Social recommendations and mentions

We have tracked the following product recommendations or mentions on various public social media platforms and blogs. They can help you see what people think about GasBuddy and what they use it for.
  • Gas under $3/gallon in the metro. How about outstate?
You can find every price, everywhere in MN on gasbuddy.com. Start with the heat map and drill down from there. https://www.gasbuddy.com/gaspricemap?lat=45.2006351774094&lng=-93.978627209716&z=11. Source: over 2 years ago
  • Cheapest gas around?
California State gas/diesel taxes are high - I think around $1.55/gallon. California has the most highways in the country. They need a lot of maintenance. The drought that we just came out of last winter cracked a lot of blacktop. In addition EV's and hybrids (which are huge in CA) use little or no gas so the revenue of the old 30MPG market is shrinking. Thus the "use tax". That said Texas is always cheaper due... • How can I calculate the $ amount of gas that it takes my vehicle to drive 87 km?
Fuel Cost in Dollars per Gallon or CAD per litre - check gasbuddy.com. Source: about 3 years ago
  • Weโ€™re screwed
Totally ridiculous situation. Temporary solution...check gasbuddy.com to see who has gas and...yes go in the middle of the night. I went at 3 am and the line was 15 minutes. It sucks but at least I put gas. Source: over 3 years ago
  • My husband lost his 80k a year job, wants me to quit school and Iโ€™m 2 semesters away from getting my degree. Should I quit?
Do not quit your school. You are in California so Denti-Cal exists. Dugoni (SF) accepts Denti-Cal and is 40% off. Do not buy a "new" car. Buy a "new to you" car. Used Toyotas can last, so can Hondas if you maintain them. If you are in SF Bay Area, get Second Harvest which will save on food. Save money on Gas with gasbuddy.com. Move to a cheaper area. • Good gas & rest stop between Austin and McDonald Observatory.
Talked to someone at the McDonald Observatory and said Fort Stockton a good place to stop when coming from Austin. Depending on gas mileage, etc. Sonora another good stopping point. Not so concerned about cheap gas but gasbuddy.com ratings on gas stations looks really informative. Of course on first trip out to West Texas have to get a picture of you and your group in front of Fort Stockton's Paisano Pete. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Moving on a tight budget with an entry-level job. Would getting a credit card for emergency gas be a beneficial move?
Gasbuddy.com is useful to pin down real-time gas prices across the country. Although gas prices fluctuate, it shouldn't be difficult to reasonably accurately estimate your total fuel costs before you hit the road. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Good gas & rest stop between Austin and McDonald Observatory.
Thanks for the info! I checked out gasbuddy.com and they have reviews of gas stations. Same for Google. Discovered a whole new genre of literature: bathroom reviews for gas stations. Reading them thinking maybe just stop at a McDonald restaurant to use their bathroom. Leave Austin with a full tank of gas till get to Fort Davis and the McDonald Observatory. • hey what's up with these gas prices?
Check out the historical charts at gasbuddy.com. Little reason for complaints. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Sheetz in Troutman
I do recommend gasbuddy.com (either the website or the app) for those who may not be aware of being able to compare fairly real-time gas prices in an area. Source: over 3 years ago
  • About to pull the trigger on a 22/23 Sierraโ€ฆ some questions โ€ฆ
Used gasbuddy.com and found a couple stations within a few miles of the house and averaged them togethor. Source: over 3 years ago
  • Still better than gas but not cheap!
Data from gasbuddy.com. 1 gallon of regular at one particular Chevron in Torrance, CA is $5.19. Premium for $5.59. Diesel for $5.89. These are not the highest for the area. And the kicker? There is a Chevron refinery in El Segundo, CA, just 12 miles away. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Boise Idaho to Columbus Ohio, round trip (during winter) ~ 3800 miles, any tips or suggestions for fastest routes, cheap gas/better gas stops, places to avoid, must see sites? Not dead set on I-80 East route, may drive thru CO.
For best places for gas, check out gasbuddy.com. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Just bought gas at Costco for $2.86/gallon
According to gasbuddy.com, looks like parts of Texas and a few areas in the SE. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Someone before me spent $600 on gas
Gasbuddy.com is the place to go for gasoline. Source: almost 4 years ago
  • Foods co in South Sac trying to be sneaky today
Trust me - I look for the cheapest gas around (gasbuddy.com) . . . Source: almost 4 years ago
  • oh snap. owned. more in comments.
According to gasbuddy.com, despite gas being lower than the peak 20-some days ago, there were several days in that period when it stayed the same as the previous day, so "in a row" is a lie. It's also still more than double the price it was when Biden took office. Source: about 4 years ago
  • Fears of Another Gas Shock Drive Biden to Seek Price Cap on Russian Oil. US officials have latched on to a never-before-tried plan aimed at depressing global oil prices. It is a novel and untested effort to force Russia to sell its oil to the world at a steep discount.
For anybody who's wondering if gas prices are really coming down (I certainly understand that certain news outlets in the US aren't covering this), gasbuddy.com is a great resource. You can track the nationwide average as well as prices in various metro markets. Again, I understand that it's not in line with the Fox News narrative, but gasbuddy.com does not have any reason to fiddle with the numbers. Source: about 4 years ago
  • /r/WorldNews Live Thread: Russian Invasion of Ukraine Day 133, Part 1 (Thread #273)
Use gasbuddy.com (other resources are probably available). Reward those who are lowering their prices. Source: about 4 years ago
  • I got tired of spending $80 on gas so I tried to find ways to reduce my gas consumption. I ended up building my own route optimization tool for Google Maps๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Sounds exactly like gasbuddy.com's "plan your trip" feature. You enter your vehicles specs (milage/tank size, etc) then your starting and end destinations, and the app will find the lowest price gas stations and adjust your stops to get you the cheapest trip. Source: about 4 years ago
  • For 10 cents off per gallon, it's worth it.
Sign up for gasbuddy.com and get the free "debit" card(just a card linked to your bank account). You can then check for available discounts on gas at gas stations. The gas station I normally fill up at I regularly see 15 to 25c off per gallon. Been using it for 2 months and have saved 18$. You have to pre activate the discont tho on the app and then it locks in the discount for 4 hours. Not all gas stations work... Source: about 4 years ago

Summary of the public mentions of GasBuddy

GasBuddy, a popular application and website for finding gas prices, has clearly established itself as a critical tool for budget-conscious travelers and drivers. While it receives commendable praise for its ability to deliver real-time gas price information and savings opportunities, some concerns loom around user privacy and data usage which are worth noting.

Features and Benefits

At its core, GasBuddy aids users in locating the most affordable gas prices in their vicinity. This promise of savings is central to its appeal. Users can easily access price information through either the app or the website, enabling them to plan their fueling stops and optimize their travel routes. Contextual mentions reveal a recurring use of GasBuddy for planning road trips, calculating fuel costs, and finding cheap gas through the interactive gas price map and heat map available on its platform.

Furthermore, GasBuddy extends its functionality beyond basic price checking. Its "Pay with GasBuddy" feature is highlighted, offering users a unique "gas payment card" that connects to their checking account, potentially delivering savings of up to 25 cents per gallon. For those adhering strictly to a budget or facing financial constraints, this service claims to provide significant savings over time, with some users reporting average annual savings of approximately $340. This transactional feature can be a game-changer for regular drivers and budget-conscious individuals, although it's suggested carefully avoiding the associated credit cards.

Public Sentiment and Critique

Public opinion, as gleaned from various mentions and discussions, reflects a positive sentiment towards GasBuddy's core functions. The website's reviews of gas stations have drawn particular interest, offering insights not only into price comparisons but also into user experiences at various station facilitiesโ€”a noteworthy detail for frequent road trip enthusiasts.

However, a significant critique emerges regarding data privacy, with some articles and community posts expressing caution over how the app collects and possibly sells user data. This concern extends to the use of the app itself, with suggestions to use the website instead to avoid potential privacy issues. Users are encouraged to plan ahead and utilize the website over the mobile app when privacy is a prime concern.

Global Reach and Availability

GasBuddy's availability in countries such as the United States, Canada, and Australia affirms its widespread utility and appeal in major markets where transportation costs significantly affect personal budgets.

Conclusion

In summary, GasBuddy stands out as a valuable resource for locating affordable gas and planning economical travel routes. Its auxiliary features, such as Pay with GasBuddy, provide additional layers of savings and convenience. Nonetheless, prospective and current users are advised to remain vigilant about privacy implications, especially when using the mobile app. Both the app and website are robust tools, but discerning users can maximize benefits while mitigating data privacy risks through informed usage choices.
