Yeah, still under $3k from Asia to US West Coast according to freightos.com. Source: over 2 years ago
Btw if you're interested in this stuff check out freightos.com - I thought it was a cool idea (and apparently fairly novel in that industry). It's like a travel booking website but for freight. It can be fun to play around with the settings and see how much it would cost to ship stuff all over. Also check out this documentary from WSJ if you haven't seen it yet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1KtTAb9Tl6E It talks... Source: over 2 years ago
Where do I compare prices for this? Is freightos.com any good? Other alternative? I cannot fill a container with the stuff I want to bring. Source: almost 3 years ago
Just run a search on freightos.com and compare. If your shipment is FOB, you shouldn't be paying a local fee at origin. I'm not sure if they LA local fee is drayage? The base ocean rate looks OK. Source: over 3 years ago
Whereas FBX since they started factoring in premiums, and also Platts channel checks, are much more aligned with the quotes I get from forwarders (and from freightos marketplace) I use this article as general reference https://www.freightwaves.com/news/different-container-indexes-vastly-different-rates-which-is-right. UPS, FedEx, and DHL cap shipments at about 150 pounds. Beyond that point, you'd probably need to book freight with a marketplace like Freightos or reach out to a specialty fulfillment company like IDS Fulfillment. Source: almost 4 years ago
